- Subject: MegaEm 3.06b woes...
-
- Okay, I know that people have seen this a thousand times
- before, but all the answers in the world have NOT fixed this ongoing
- problem.
-
- I have a Micron Millenia P5-100, Phoenix BIOS, EIDE HD and CD-ROM,
- and v1.4 UltraSound MAX.
-
- Each beta version of MegaEm locks my computer. This usually happens
- during the time that it creates the patch bank. I have set ULTRA16
- to nothing and managed to get MegaEm to properly load. However, when
- I then try to play a game with it enabled, it plays some garbage and
- dies. I have made sure to unset the ULTRA16 setting before creating
- the patch bank, and there is nothing custom about my patches or .INI
- files.
-
- I have tried removing all unecessary TSRs. I have tried enabling and
- disabling NMI. I have gotten the program to work just fine if I
- disable SB emulation; the Roland stuff works just dandy. I don't
- even need to unset the ULTRA16 setting for this.
-
- I have been unable to get ANY beta version of MegaEm to work on my
- machine. On my old machine v3.03b worked like a charm.
-
- I have complained to Gravis several times, but they totally ignore me
- (imagine...).
-
- Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

-
- Well, it's good to be back in business!!!
- The last think I remember reading in the list was a handful of
- messages about forthcoming Windows95 and GUS compatibility. Now Win95
- is finally here (to stay!), also in my computer, and I wonder if there
- are any GUS drivers specially for it. I've checked some ftps but I'm
- not able to find anything. So, what can you tell me about it? Has
- Gravis made at last these drivers? Where can I find them?
-
- OK, that's all for now. See ya soon!

-
- OK, this is an old game now, but...has anybody played microcosm in a
- GUS? Though they say it is compatible I still can get no soud out of
- it! BTW, soundtrack is made by Rick Wakeman, Yes' keyboard man; worth
- checking! You can still hear the audio tracks on a normal CD player.

-
- I sent a message yesterday regarding Mortal Konbat 3 that I haven't seen
- in the digest yet. In short, the box says "SB and compatibles" but the
- first choice in the soundset part of the install is "Ultrasound" and it
- works great! Not for the faint of heart but for the vicariously violent
- among us, this is amazing!
-
- Sorry if this is the second copy to get there.

-
- Hi:
-
- Can anyone recommend a drum machine package for the GUS?
- It doesn't have to be GUS specific, a good drum machine
- program for Windows would be fine too, it just a pain to
- work around the patch caching.

-
-
- I am a GUS users and I have a J-bXnd "PCI400C-B" motherboard.
-
- I found that the board was NMI disabled, that means SBOS cannot be run and
- also MIDI input does not work when GUS is used with this board. Therefore,my
- system cannot be sound blaster compatible and cannot be connected a MIDI
- keyboard.
-
- I tried to contact the sole agent in Hong Kong, but always there is no one
- answer the phone. There is no information about the company which
- manufactures "J-bXnd motherboard" in the manual. i.e. no address, no web
- site address, no E-mail address. Therefore, I could not get any technical
- support.
-
- I am totally disappointed by "J-bXnd", and I remind every GUS users, make
- sure that the motherboard is NMI enabled before buying it.

- Subject: GUS MAX for sale
-
- The GUS is an awesome card. Gravis customer support is really pathetic.
-
- Since I've purchased my 2nd GUS, I've heard:
-
- New MegaEM that works with protected mode games: never made it past beta.
- New MaxSBOS that works with protected mode: again, never past beta.
- UltraINIT that doesn't cause slowdowns, lockups, instability: hasn't yet happened.
- Windows 95/NT drivers: over 4 months late if the current schedule is acheived.
-
- I'm giving up. The hardware is great, and when it works it is the best. Gravis needs to
- concentrate on software development if the new interwave based board will go anywhere. I
- think they've scared off most of the market with the lack of support.
-
- In any case, GUS Max (board v1.8, the newest I believe). I meg of RAM: 100.00. Reply
- via email and I'll send it pronto.

- Hello!!!
-
- There have been a few replies to the digest
- regarding the ultra16= hack for pentiums with
- a MAX. One solution to your problem would
- be to get an OLD version of ultrinit that
- will init the MAX as a GUS if the variable
- is nulled. The last few versions will not do
- this, and therfore the playback from megaem
- will be messed up a lot. Nifty margins huh??? :)

-
- Hi All
-
- Megaem 3.06b just crashes on my system. I've tried the set ultra16=
- thing but it doesn't help. The game that keeps crashing the system is
- tyrian. I was under the impression that megaem can replace ultramid which
- tyrian requires. ultramid works, megaem crashes the whole system. Also
- when i run megaem with ultimate soccer manager (soundblaster fm) the
- sound is really garbled. sbos works fine.
-
- My system is a p-133 on a zappa m-board with mrbios 3.18
- my gus is the old ver 2.4 (got it long long ago)
-
- At first megaem wouldn't even load until i pulled an undocumented dip
- switch on my zappa that had something to do with i/o transfer. switch 2
- i think.
-
- thanks
-
- b.t.w does anyone know when gus support for crusader is forthcoming.
- origin has promised this. Also is the gus natively supported in magic
- carpet 2 or does it have the same problem as the first carpet
