  29. Okay, I know that people have seen this a thousand times 
  30. before, but all the answers in the world have NOT fixed this ongoing 
  31. problem.

  33. I have a Micron Millenia P5-100, Phoenix BIOS, EIDE HD and CD-ROM, 
  34. and v1.4 UltraSound MAX.
  35.  
  36. Each beta version of MegaEm locks my computer.  This usually happens 
  37. during the time that it creates the patch bank.  I have set ULTRA16 
  38. to nothing and managed to get MegaEm to properly load.  However, when 
  39. I then try to play a game with it enabled, it plays some garbage and 
  40. dies.  I have made sure to unset the ULTRA16 setting before creating 
  41. the patch bank, and there is nothing custom about my patches or .INI 
  42. files.

  44. I have tried removing all unecessary TSRs.  I have tried enabling and 
  45. disabling NMI.  I have gotten the program to work just fine if I 
  46. disable SB emulation;  the Roland stuff works just dandy.  I don't 
  47. even need to unset the ULTRA16 setting for this.
  48.  
  49. I have been unable to get ANY beta version of MegaEm to work on my 
  50. machine.  On my old machine v3.03b worked like a charm.
  51.  
  52. I have complained to Gravis several times, but they totally ignore me 
  53. (imagine...).
  54.  
  55. Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

  89. The last think I remember reading in the list was a handful of 
  90. messages about forthcoming Windows95 and GUS compatibility. Now Win95 
  91. is finally here (to stay!), also in my computer, and I wonder if there 
  92. are any GUS drivers specially for it. I've checked some ftps but I'm 
  93. not able to find anything.  So, what can you tell me about it? Has 
  94. Gravis made at last these drivers? Where can I find them?

  106. OK, this is an old game now, but...has anybody played microcosm in a 
  107. GUS? Though they say it is compatible I still can get no soud out of 
  108. it! BTW, soundtrack is made by Rick Wakeman, Yes' keyboard man; worth 
  109. checking! You can still hear the audio tracks on a normal CD player.

  136. I sent a message yesterday regarding Mortal Konbat 3 that I haven't seen 
  137. in the digest yet.  In short, the box says "SB and compatibles" but the 
  138. first choice in the soundset part of the install is "Ultrasound" and it 
  139. works great!  Not for the faint of heart but for the vicariously violent 
  140. among us, this is amazing!

  181. I am a GUS users and I have a J-bXnd "PCI400C-B" motherboard.
  182.  
  183. I  found that the board was NMI disabled, that means SBOS cannot be run  and
  184. also MIDI input does not work when GUS is used with this board. Therefore,my
  185. system  cannot  be sound blaster compatible and cannot be connected  a  MIDI
  186. keyboard.

  188. I  tried to contact the sole agent in Hong Kong, but always there is no  one
  189. answer  the  phone.  There  is  no  information  about  the  company   which
  190. manufactures  "J-bXnd motherboard" in the manual. i.e. no  address,  no  web
  191. site  address,  no E-mail address. Therefore, I could not get any  technical
  192. support.

  194. I am totally  disappointed  by  "J-bXnd", and I remind every GUS users, make 
  195. sure that the motherboard is NMI enabled before buying it.

  207. The GUS is an awesome card.  Gravis customer support is really pathetic.

  209. Since I've purchased my 2nd GUS, I've heard:

  211. New MegaEM that works with protected mode games: never made it past beta.
  212. New MaxSBOS that works with protected mode: again, never past beta.
  213. UltraINIT that doesn't cause slowdowns, lockups, instability: hasn't yet happened.
  214. Windows 95/NT drivers: over 4 months late if the current schedule is acheived.

  216. I'm giving up.  The hardware is great, and when it works it is the best.  Gravis needs to 
  217. concentrate on software development if the new interwave based board will go anywhere.  I
  218. think they've scared off most of the market with the lack of support.

  220. In any case, GUS Max (board v1.8, the newest I believe).  I meg of RAM: 100.00.  Reply

  232.     There have been a few replies to the digest
  233. regarding the ultra16= hack for pentiums with
  234. a MAX.  One solution to your problem would
  235. be to get an OLD version of ultrinit that
  236. will init the MAX as a GUS if the variable
  237. is nulled.  The last few versions will not do
  238. this, and therfore the playback from megaem
  239. will be messed up a lot.  Nifty margins huh??? :)

  266. Megaem 3.06b just crashes on my system. I've tried the set ultra16=  
  267. thing but it doesn't help. The game that keeps crashing the system is 
  268. tyrian. I was under the impression that megaem can replace ultramid which 
  269. tyrian requires. ultramid works, megaem crashes the whole system. Also 
  270. when i run megaem with ultimate soccer manager (soundblaster fm) the 
  271. sound is really garbled. sbos works fine.

  273. My system is a p-133 on a zappa m-board with mrbios 3.18
  274. my gus is the old ver 2.4 (got it long long ago)

  276. At first megaem wouldn't even load until i pulled an undocumented dip 
  277. switch on my zappa that had something to do with i/o transfer. switch 2 
  278. i think.
