- First: I'll flame anyone who attack my opinions with non-argumental bullshit
- on the public digest. Want to tell me to fuck off? Send a private mail and
- keep it out of the dig, or get flamed on the dig.
-
- To the point: I wrote some days ago about CD-read-error on WC3. I found the
- solution to it: The gus was set at DMA 7, and had to be directed to a lower
- DMA. I tried 3 and then it worked like hell. WC3 is the best game ever.
- Thanks anyway:).

- Subject: Cyberia and MegaEm 3.04B
-
- Bret from gravistech@aol.com says he got Cyberia working perfectly with
- the MAX and megaem 3.04b. With my v3.4 regular 1MB GUS, megaem sometimes
- works, but the game randomly crashes, and sounds go randomly silent.
- Looks like yet another fine gradation in hardware between GUS MAX
- and Gus regular, even with v3.xx boards. I believe the difference is the
- "enhancement" that Megaem takes advantage of in GUS MAXes, probably the
- CODEC. Anyway, Jayeson, please fix this so MegaEm works more with
- regular GUS as well. I wouldn't want to say, "Gee, InterWave is coming
- out, but since it will be so obsolete so fast, I better wait five years
- so I can get InterWave, board revision v9.6."

-
- To those who wondered what revision their GUS was:
-
- I have a pre-beta release of gusrev.exe, which detects what
- revision your gus is. It detects my gus max rev 1.8 ok, not
- sure about other cards. You can probably find it on
- archive.epas.utoronto.ca, or ftp.cdrom.com.

- Subject: GF1/IW compatibility
-
- In reply to yesterday's digest, I didn't say I expect the GF1 to
- be upward compatible with the IW (in fact, in a previous digest I stated
- that if GF1 is upward compatible with the IW I hope the IW dies).
- There are some people who thinks that IW compatibility equals
- GF1 compatibility and hence is a good reason to keep my rev 2.2 GUS when
- the IW rewrites the standards books (where did I hear that before ....).
- I'm just stating that the IW is a superset and GF1 won't run any IW specific
- software.

- Subject: GUS Beta-Testers need for a Application
-
- I need a few beta-testers for a new version of Souncard State Selector
- V2.2. I need a few people with a
-
- SoundBlaster Pro,
- SoundBlaster 16,
- SoundBlaster AWE32,
- Pro Audio Spectrum 16,
- Pro Audio Studio 16,
- or
- Advanced Gravis Ultrasound Max
-
- to aid me in debugging my program.
- If you would like to participate in this festive event, please E-mail me.
-
- To qualify, I need you to write a short discription about yourself,
- your computing system, and why you think you would make a good beta-tester.
- nothing fancy, just give me an idea of who you are so I can take the better
- applicants. I like to deal with small groups to prevent E-mail overload
- and confusion. I have found that small beta groups are better than large
- beta groups.
-
- For more information, please reference the attached discription of SNDSTATE!

- Thanks,

- [Note: This version replaces SimTel/msdos/sound/sndst21.zip, which is an
- outdate version.]

- SimTel/msdos/sound/
- sndst211.zip Gets/Puts/Edits states of some soundcards
-
- Sound Card State Selector v2.11 - SNDSTATE is designed to complement the
- software present in many sound card packages. It is a program that will
- either save or restore mixer settings of the following cards:
-
- PAS: Pro Audio Spectrum-16
- Pro Audio Studio
- Media Vision Fusion 16
- Logitech SoundMan
-
- SBPro: Sound Blaster Pro
- Media Vision Deluxe
-
- SB16: Sound Blaster 16
- Sound Blaster 16 ASP
- Sound Blaster AWE32
-
- to or from storage for later retrieval.
-
- SNDSTATE provides a means of restoring and saving the settings of these
- sound cards to or from disk. The registered version can restore or save
- these settings using batch files without any interaction by the user. It
- also provides a Graphical User Interface, GUI, for modifying most of
- mixer and volume settings of these cards.
-
- The system requirements for SNDSTATE are shown below:
-
- MS-DOS 3.0 or Higher.
- IBM AT, 286, 386, 486, or other 100% compatibles.
- A Proaudio Spectrum 16, Proaudio Studio, Fusion 16 CD-ROM
- kit, Logitech SoundMan, Sound Blaster Pro, Sound Blaster
- 16, or Sound Blaster AWE32. (*)
- Some free disk space.
-
- In addition to these requirements, the SNDSTATE GUI requires a VGA card
- capable of 640x480x16. A mouse is highly recommended when using the
- SNDSTATE GUI.
-
- (*) It is presently unknown if SNDSTATE will work consistently with
- other sound boards from other manufacturers.

- Subject: Problems with Simon the Sorcerer
-
- Hi all out there,
-
- I hope I don┤t annoy anyone out there with my question ... and I hope this
- question hasn┤t been asked a hundred of times ... ;)
-
- I┤ve got Simon the Sorcerer (CD-Rom), and I don┤t manage to get the sound
- right. The ultramid and digipack drivers are loaded correctly, but I only get
- digital sound, no music at all !
- Perhaps it is ultramid, which does something wrong ? Why doesn┤t it load the
- samples to the mem during start-up ? How can it play music later on ?
-
- I hope somebody has a few suggestions,
-
- Magnus

-
- I released GusPro00 at epas not too long ago and it contained a MajoR bug!
- One of the acoustic pianos is a synthetic piano (Rhoedes) and thus many midi
- files which use acoustic pinaos sound accordingly...bad...
- A patch will be soon available on epas. The file will be called GUSPRO01.arj.
