- Ok, well if you want to play like this, remember that the GF1 is a
- modified Ensoniq DOC 2. The DOC 1 was used on the motherboard of the
- Apple IIgs, giving it the most impressive sound capabilities of it's day.
- It was kind of amazing how at the time that I was using my IIgs heavily,
- they were really hyping sound blaster on the PC. When I actually heard it
- I was amazed at what a piece of junk it was! And the thing is... Wavetable
- was available then, and they could have used it instead! The only reason
- it didn't catch on was because of Sound Blaster and the catchy name of
- FM-Synthesis. I'm still pretty amazed that almost every PC game ported
- from a game console uses MIDIfied music. It sounds aweful, and I just
- can't figure out why commercial programmers don't figure this out. I guess
- it's because trackers are free, while MIDI sequencers cost lost of $$$,
- making them more "legitimate." I dunno... Just rambling.
