- Subject: Re: 3D Sound Programming
-
- The 2.21 SDK has the Focal Point 3D software and manual pages, maybe all of
- this legal mess with Focal Point (at least some of the recent digests have
- suggested legal troubles) has pushed Gravis to pull out the 3D functions and
- release 2.22 without them (2.21 wasn't put out all that long ago, I wouldn't be
- surprised if this were the case).
- On a similar thread however, has anyone actually used the 3D functions
- on the GUS? Have you had any success and/or failure and how easy/difficult were
- they to use? I have been considering porting our 3D sound API to the PC (from
- SGI workstations) and would love to support the Ultrasound if it would be easy
- to do. Also, does anyone know how easy it would be to utilize the 3D library
- and the Win3.1 sound API together? All of our 2D stuff will be written for
- Win3.1's API (and Win95's when it gets closer to shipping) but I would love to
- say "You can get 2D sound with any Win3.1 compatible soundcard...but if you
- want 3D..."
- It would be a nice little boost for our underdog of a soundcard. :-)
