  16. I've posted this before to the rec.music.makers.synth groups etc.
  17. but have never been able to get a firm repsonse on this. I have
  18. GUS MAX, and MQX-16 interface hooked up to Roland EM-303 GM Synth. Now
  19. according to the manual you should be able to audition patches 
  20. using a MIDI keyboard. I have the MIDI Thru switch switched to 
  21. whatever the manual says etc. but when I play the keyboard, nothing happens!
  22. Now I have checked the MIDI stream and indeed MIDI signal are reaching
  23. the computer all on Channel 4 (this is one of those synths with fixed channels -
  24. cannot change anything at all). The GUS is working since the computer "keyboard"
  25. does audition the patches. I have tried changing EVEYRTHING I can think of
  26. but to no avail. The only time the Patch Manager seems to work with the keyboard is when Cakewalk is running, since Cakewalk is somehow linking the
  27. two and updating the patch cache correctly. But I'd rather not use Cakewalk
  28. all the time if possible. My system comprises of :

  30.     * 386/33 AMD clone with Intel 387 co-pro
  31.     * Oak VGA monitor
  32.     * MQX-16
  33.     * GUS MAX
  34.     * Roland EM-303
  35.     * Windows 3.1 using Norton Desktop 2.0
  36.     * Stacker 4.0

  38. I have tried removing NDW 2.0 and running a bare system, etc.
  39. but the SAME problem exists. Does the GUS MAX expect all keyboard
  40. signals on Channel 1 and Channel 1 only???? If so, are there are ways to change
  41. this???? I haven't tried Patch-Eze yet so this may work but
  42. for now any suggestions? I wrote Gravis 3 months ago about this problem
  43. but no response. I may have to call them but if anyone has run into this
  44. prob before, could they please e-mail me ASAP at jlaw@irus.rr.uwo.ca???
