  20. Have just purchased band in a box on a recommendation and find that it works
  21. great in Dos mode when I use the emuset and megaem to use the Roland
  22. emulation only. However I am having problems with the Band in a Box for
  23. Windows and the emulations. Has anyone had any experience with Band n a 
  24. Box? What settings, etc?

  44. The FP3D program is licensed by Gravis from Forte I believe.  You have to 
  45. buy it from Gravis because they have to pay Forte a royalty (I got it a 
  46. long time ago for $15.00 direct from Gravis.  I'm not sure if that price 
  47. still holds true...)

  49. Once you get it, I would be interested in seeing anything you do with 
  50. it.  I spent some time with it and determined that the files would end up 
  51. being to large to include in my games...

  74.     Well, there should be a great loss in the noise when recording 
  75. with the 16bit add on, as for the actual quailty, I am not sure since i 
  76. have a MAX and it is native on that card, and also done differently than 
  77. the add on card does it with the normal GUS.

  83.     Sorry guy, you cannot put two GUS in one machine, it isn't 
  84. possible. An SB or a clone yes, but not two GUS.  I belive that the 
  85. daughter card just plugs onto the GUS card and doesn't require another 
  86. slot to be used.

  99.     No problems at all, went in like a dream and hasn't stoped 
  100. working perfectly since.  The only time I have a problem is when some one 
  101. has written shitty code for the sound support.

  117. My plain old GUS has been trouble free too.  I suppose the biggest problems
  118. have been some minor software ones, like some patches being corrupted and
  119. the fact that if I run two GUS apps at once (like, the mixer plus the
  120. patch manager) it causes my display driver, which is quirky anyway, 
  121. to crap out.  The whole screen typically goes blank, and sometimes I can
  122. resurrect it by mousing around and clicking to bring pieces of things back
  123. and then closing one of the apps as soon as I can see the control menu,
  124. but sometimes all I can do is reboot.  But, Microsoft Access cue cards caused
  125. this to happen too, and sometimes Cakewalk does it if I run it too long at 
  126. a time, so it's not just the GUS.

  157. I use the GUS mostly for playback of csound generated samples.
  158. I've had this GUS since Nov '92 and the software now released with it is
  159. considerably easier to use than what it originally came with, plus there are
  160. more third party products about.
  161. A lot of the people who complained earlier on were worried about compatiblity
  162. with soundblaster type cards..not an issue for you or I.

  164. BTW if you are reading this list and you've released a piece of GUS
  165. music software in the last couple of months, please tell us about it!  I dont
  166. have the time to wade through all the dross in comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard.*
  167. and Im sure this must be true for a number of other list subscribers.
