  60. Further to my earlier reply, I have now been informed by Gravis that outboard MIDI was
  61. not included in the WIN95 driver.
  62. That's why we cannot use our keyboards.
  63. The next issue at the end of jan. should be all right.

  87. Well I'm sort of glad it's not only me gets this lock up. It doesn't
  88. usually take me long to get the keyboard working though. It seems
  89. more reliable if I turn on the keyboard before starting up the
  90. computer. I then test it out with the MIDIMON program before trying
  91. the real sequencer (just because it's quicker to start up in case
  92. it goes and hangs again).

  94. As for the DMAs and IRQs, I'm pretty sure that the two DMA channels
  95. have got nothing to do with MIDI (unless it's some funny side
  96. interaction in the drivers). There's definitely a MIDI IRQ
  97. though, and we know that MIDI in uses NMI, but I presume that
  98. MIDI in doesn't work at all for those people with motherboards
  99. which don't support NMI.

  105. I would assume that an .idf file allows the 'Patch Maps' and 'Key Maps'
  106. that used to be in the old MIDI Mapper to be set up. The format
  107. must be documented somewhere. Have people noticed that in the
  108. MIDI setup dialog, it's possible to set up a 'custom configuration'
  109. rather than 'single instrument', and at least this allows you to
  110. map different MIDI channels to different MIDI devices (another
  111. part of old MIDI Mapper functionality).

  121. Lately i put here a question on converting midi files into mods. The
  122. reaction a recieved made me realise that i should ask for something else
  123. (thanks to David van Dromme):

  128. If so, please drop me a line with the name and version of that program. I'd
  129. like to convert my songs into modules because write songs in midi-format.
  130. I'm using non-standard patch mappings and patches for the GUS so spreading
  131. of the songs in midi-format is rather useless.

  204. My motherboard does not support NMI, yet it does support MIDI In.  YOu
  205. figure it out.  I'm using a cheapo Casio MT-260 for a controller and
  206. everything works fine.  You figure it out.  Out!!!
