  31.     Hmmm, sounds like maybe your Fast Tracker is not acknowledging MIDI note 
  32. off messages. That way, it would still think you were holding the key down 
  33. and would not re trigger the note sample. Just my guess. It could be
  34. a bug in the version or something.

  119. Lately there heve been questions on MIDI-interfacing from Tuomas
  120. Koskela and Marx.

  122. To Tuomas Koskela: you asked where that value-critical resistor was
  123. located. It's in the midi interface between the power supply (+5V) and
  124. the secondary side of the opto-coupler. For more info you can take a
  125. closer look at the attached scheme!
  126. After i've read your reaction to my story i asked myself: is the
  127. timing of the midi-out signals influenced by the timing of the signals
  128. on the ISA-bus?
  129. I don't know yet. 
  130. Can someone give me a scheme on the MIDI input/output part of the GUS
  131. or even the whole GUS, or of a generic MIDI input/output card, please?
  132. With that information i perhaps could tell you some more on this
  133. topic.

  138. See the attached coreldraw 3.0 file for the complete scheme of the
  139. midi interface i'm using myself.
  140. Due to the production-tolerances of the optocoupler i cannot give one
  141. correct value for the total resistor value in the yellow spot.
  142. If you have an oscilloscope you can supply a 31 kHz TTL-value square
  143. wave at the input, and adjust the resistor so that the output waveform
  144. is a fair good copy of the input.
  145. Another possibility is: using a midi master keyboard and trim the
  146. resistor until the notes are reliably recieved.

  148. I used both methods successfully.

  150. Please notify if something goes wrong with the attachment, or if you
  151. cannot read the file. I don't know how it is handled by the
  152. listserver!
