  38. BURNABY, British Columbia, October 9, 1995 --  Advanced Gravis Computer
  39. Technology Ltd. announces a new generation of wavetable PC sound cards, 
  40. the UltraSound Plug & Play and the UltraSound Plug & Play Pro.  The new 
  41. cards offer the quality of wavetable sound and the convenience of Windows 
  42. '95 PnP at very affordable prices.  Expected to be one of the first Plug 
  43. & Play wavetable sound cards on the market, the standard and Pro 
  44. versions are estimated to have a street price of $149.00 and $199.00 US, 
  45. respectively.  Competing sound cards typically cost up to $50 more.

  47. Advanced Gravis is the most prominent company to offer a sound card with 
  48. full duplex capabilities, making simultaneous, real-time verbal 
  49. conversation on the Internet possible. To fully showcase this feature, 
  50. Advanced Gravis is including with the UltraSound Plug & Play  a 
  51. microphone and a complete bundle of software enabling users to utilize 
  52. the Internet for telephonic communications.  This full Internet package 
  53. is comprised of:

  65. venture between Gravis and AMD utilizing Advanced Gravis' UltraSound_ 
  66. audio technology.  The Interwave chip is the first to provide integration 
  67. of the MPC-3 multimedia requirements.  This integrated technology allows 
  68. Gravis to deliver more honest reproduction of sound and reduce the card's 
  69. cost without sacrificing the quality of the other components.

  80. comes with 512K RAM installed, making it compatible with UltraSound, the

  82. Both versions can be upgraded to up to 8MB of RAM delivering the ability 
  83. to load a broader array of high-quality custom sounds and digital effects 
  84. such as flange, reverb and chorus.

  87. musical sound from playback samples of real instruments.  Unlike other 
  88. sound boards that use FM synthesis, the true 16-bit, 32 voice UltraSound 
  89. Plug & Play cards use all digital wavetable synthesis to produce superior 
  90. CD-quality sound.  (FM syntheses tries to electronically emulate 
  91. instruments producing unrealistic simulated sounds, while wavetable 
  92. synthesis relies on digital recordings of actual sound.)  The sound

  94. make it an ideal choice for a first-time sound card buyer or as an upgrade
  95. for experienced users. The UltraSound Plug & Play will replace the

  193. Just for the record, E-TECH, formerly FORTE TECHNOLOGIES, INC (we now are 
  194. the VFX1 HEADGEAR Division) Made BOTH Ultrasound Series cards - the 
  195. previous ones (GUS,GUSMAX) and invented these new ones as well - along 
  196. with the chip! AMD just happens to have bought the rights to it or 
  197. something to that effect, but in any event, E-TECH is THE real brains 
  198. behind these cards.
  199. Sorry to butt in, but I feel that credit should be given where credit is 
  200. due, and it miffs me that Gravis & AMD "steal" all the credit for doing 
  201. nothing but having big pocket books...
