  20. About CD Sampling (Reading audio data with CD-ROM
  21.  directly from the audio CD, without re-digitising it)

  23. There's one chance with SCSI drives, I've heard it works, but for me it 
  24. never. I tested it with a Compaq Proliant Server with Compaq CD-ROM, and 
  25. we also tested a Toshiba 4x speed SCSI CD-ROM: Unsuccessful.

  27. There's another chance: The program is shareware, you can get it from ftp 
  28. sites I think. It's called cdinfo14.arj. It tested with many ide drives, 
  29. and it works, it CAN read audio data from audio CD-s.

  43. NOTE: not all CD-rom can read audio tracks, and some drives (like the

  71. We took the DRAM from a S3 VGA card, obtaining the whole card for 
  72. $35.- (a second-hand one). It works OK, but we do have just the spare 
  73. S3 without memory...;-)

  85. You could try my MSCDEX (msdos/windows) cdrom audio reader..
  86. supports audio-synchronizing what results in a better sound.
  87. Also audio channel manipulation and other shit..
  88. Output directly to 16 bit 44khz stereo WAV.

  100. Thanks to everybody for replying to my question about
  101. new patches.
  102. Then, here are the answers to YOUR questions:
  103. 1) I also have a tenor sax (200 KB) which is much better than
  104. the one shipped with the GUS.
  105. 2) The distorted guitar was found somewhere from a friend of
  106. mine who doesn't remeber where.
  107. 3) The bass patches were made by me.
  108. 4) I've also made a trumpet (not much better then the one shipped with
  109. the GUS),
  110. an acoustic guitar (good but too big for its sound quality), a female
  111. choir (the vocal extension
  112. is anyway very limited), a brass section (quite good).

  114. I don't have any problems about uploading the files somewhere, but
  115. remeber:
  116.  
  117. 1) I have access to the university lab ONCE A WEEK, so you may have to
  118. wait
  119. a little before dowloading them.

  121. 2)I don't know how to UPLOAD files.I've started to use the FTP just
  122. yesterday and i've only downloaded.
  123. So please tell me HOW to upload the file, and WHERE. A site in England
  124. would be perfect.
