  26. Well I hope someone downloads a better one.  A .WAV file of 
  27. striving.mid doesn't exactly showcase how different it sounds from a 
  28. GUS or any other soundcard.  Why?  Let's see, the midi file uses some 
  29. drums, a bass, and a bright piano... that's it!  How about some 
  30. orchestral instruments?  The GUS IMHO has some really bad orchestral 
  31. instruments and I want to see how the new InterWave-based card is gonna 
  32. sound like.

  35. BTW, does anyone know if the ROM samples are stereo patches?  The AMD 
  36. literature said the chip can support 32 16-bit stereo samples... hmm..  
  37. Also, will it have different samples, depeding upon velocity?

  49. I am a GUS users and I have a J-bXnd "PCI400C-B" motherboard.
  50.  
  51. I  found that the board was NMI disabled, that means SBOS cannot be run  and
  52. also MIDI input does not work when GUS is used with this board. Therefore,my
  53. system  cannot  be sound blaster compatible and cannot be connected  a  MIDI
  54. keyboard.

  56. I  tried to contact the sole agent in Hong Kong, but always there is no  one
  57. answer  the  phone.  There  is  no  information  about  the  company   which
  58. manufactures  "J-bXnd motherboard" in the manual. i.e. no  address,  no  web
  59. site  address,  no E-mail address. Therefore, I could not get any  technical
  60. support.

  62. I am totally  disappointed  by  "J-bXnd", and I remind every GUS users, make 
  63. sure that the motherboard is NMI enabled before buying it.

  75. Hey all, sorry if this topic may be inappropriate, but I wasn't sure if
  76. gus-general is up yet.  I was wondering if the NMI (Non-maskable interrupts) 
  77. are necessary for Native gus operability or just for SBOS?  I'm thinking of
  78. upgrading to a pentium (of course) and it seems basically no-one has NMI's
  79. on their motherboards anymore.  Also I really hope that the new (rumored)
  80. gravis 
  81. sound card makes _no_ use of NMI's since it will surely make it a
  82. compatibility pain!

  84. Another music question is I'm looking for a good string patch (kinda like
  85. Tremelo on the general patch set but larger (maybe 512kb-700kb or so) and 
  86. with not such a wide and fast tremelo.
