  19. some weird stuff has happened with the 3d stuff over the past few
  20. software releases - with different utilites and demos coming and mostly going...

  22. in the 2.06 disks there was a focal point utility for creating 3d soundfiles
  23. called fp3d.exe plus some documentation about how to do it...in that doc
  24. it mentioned another utility which you attached a 3d header to the file with
  25. called header3d, only its not in the discs.

  27. Does anyone know where to get this from - or some other more recent way
  28. of making 3d soundfiles from samples ?

  59. I tried setting up the Miracle Piano Software with a GUS Max awhile ago, to no 
  60. avail. The main problem is that, if you want to use an external MIDI device for
  61. input or output, the Miracle wants it to look exactly like a Roland MPU-401 
  62. port. Nothing I've tried so far for the GUS emulates this closely enough to 
  63. make the Miracle happy.

  65. The last one I tried was MegaEm 3.03, which didn't lock up, but didn't actually
  66. work either. The Miracle could output just fine to GUS synth using one of the 
  67. emulations (Roland SoundCanvas I think), but anything that went out the MIDI 
  68. port was totally garbled. And I got no keyboard input whatsoever. I sent a bug 
  69. report to Gravis.

  80. I'm been driving myself nuts trying to get the GUS Max to work as a synth box 
  81. with multiple banks. My primary synth is a Roland JV-880. I have some fairly 
  82. good patches for the GUS, but I want to keep the basic General MIDI around too,
  83. because the Roland isn't GM-compatible. With around 20MB or more of GUS 
  84. patches (did lots of downloading just recently), the GUS makes a nice backup, 
  85. when I don't have just the right patch for the Roland.

  87. Which brings me to banking. I'm driving this with Cakewalk Pro 3.01, which does
  88. a great job flipping banks on the Roland, so I figured it would do likewise on 
  89. the GUS. But no dice, the GUS ignores the bank entirely, so far anyhow. I can 
  90. manually select a bank with the patch manager, but that doesn't cut it if I'm 
  91. trying to use multiple custom banks in the same song. Is this a flaw in the GUS
  92. MIDI support, or am I missing something. I'm using 3.5-something GUS software, 
  93. if that's any help.
