- Windows audio access is achieved using standard, universal commands. The best
- ones to start with are the MCI (multimedia command interface) strings. Look
- for the MCIStrWH and MMSystem reference files from the Windows SDK.
- The dunderhead play routine is sndPlaySound, which is supplied with the file
- name and plays a WAV, no hassle.
- Windows 95 will offer something called DirectSound, about which I know nothing,
- but it should be another way to play effects. Look at the prerelease SDK for
- info.

- Clint,
-
- If you purchased your GUS MAX at a dealer you should have got a set of disks
- 1. Install disks (6)
- 2. Bonus disks (2) which contains SoundStation & WaveLite
-
- The programs on set 2 (BONUS) can be used for this purpose.
- You can SAMPLE & playback your sounds.
-
- For making soundtracks you need another program
- I use ScreamTracker 3.0 which is FreeWare.
- I also heard of SoundTracker Pro 16 (?ware).
-
- I hope this answers your question.
-
- Sincerly,
-
- Patrick Balm.
