- There certainly is. I can't remember the exact names, but do an
- archie for 'cda' or 'cd' if you can. I did that and ended up with
- 3 different programs for MS-DOS which could read from my SCSI
- 4101 with varying degrees of success. Some need an ASPI driver
- and some don't. Some made a poor recording. Sometimes my machine
- hung. But sometimes it worked! I have a SCSI HD as well on the
- same Future Domain TMC-1680 controller so I
- don't know if that might have been causing some problems.
-
- As I said the other day, Corel SCSI II for Windows includes a
- CD audio capture program for Windows which also works.
-
- Mail me, preferably at clarke@brunt.demon.co.uk rather than the
- address on this message, if you really can't find the programs.

- Buy the Fatar keyboard, for sure! The clavinova is nice enough but with
- the Fatar you'll have much nicer feel and more versatility down the road.
- If you're not happy with the GUS piano patches, you can always get a
- separate module just for piano sounds and hook it up via midi. Many of
- these modules are available used for $100 or less used and they sound
- really good. If you are just starting out on piano, I think the GUS
- patches will keep you happy for a while.
- The Fatar 900 has received good reviews in the past....
-
- Good luck!

-
- I know this isn't exactly the right place to post this but the right
- people are here so here we go...
-
- I'm trying to get a GUS Max (version 1.8) to work with a Panasonic 563 drive.
-
- The manual from the GUS says that the drivers come with the CD-ROM drive
- and the company we bought the CD drive from say they come with the sound
- card.
-
- I got hold of the Creative Labs drivers, and they don't seem to work --
- they're constantly looking for a SB Pro that it's interfaced through...
-
- Are there any other drivers, etc around that look straight at the CD
- drive (i.e. IO address 340) not through a SoundBlaster Pro at 220 or
- whatever?
-
- Thanks!

- Subject: MIDI in does not work for me
-
- Hi,
- I hope someone on this list can help me. I'm using the MIDI adaptor
- from PME that is guaranteed to work with the GUS. The cables are connected
- to a Korg X5 keyboard. The MIDI out works since a Windows sequencer can
- drive the X5. But I can not get MIDI in to work on any Win or DOS
- softwares(recording session, winjammer, midifier).
- I know the keyboard's MIDI out is okay since the X5 can control another synth.
- Software is okay since MIDI out works and the PC keyboard midi input works.
- So I think the problem lies in the MIDI adaptor or the GUS card. Assuming
- the MIDI adaptor is fine, is there a way to check my GUS card? Has anyone
- else had a similar problem? And how did you fix the problem? Thank you in
- advance.

- There are several programs that grab cd-audio from an audio CD using a
- CD-ROM drive. A few of them can be used on SCSI cd-rom drives. Some
- SCSI CD-ROM drives can't do it (no firmware support).
-
- A few program names (try archie for FTP sites for them):
- CDDA -> For some SCSI-CDROM's
- DA2WAVxx -> Newer version of CDDA ??
- CDGRAB SCSI also (?), demo-version available for testing only
- CDGRAB-PRO ?
- CDDAREAD ?
- CDINFO Non scsi and maybe also scsi
- CDMON ?
- CDAR ?
- CORELSCSI You must buy this one of course
- others ?
