- This is only a Beta release. Version 1.00 will not support Sound Blaster DAC
- emulation. This is planned for version 1.10.
-
- The 10 minute demonstration period has temporarily been removed. Users are
- not obligated to register Mega-Em before 19/08/93, or the next beta release
- of Mega-Em, which ever comes first. In fact it is recommended users wait
- until the final release of version 1.00 before they register. It is possible
- that the registration fee may change (lower) before this time.
-
- I will appreciate any reports of bugs, incompatibilities, spelling errors,
- uncomprehensible sections of the documentation, (practical) suggestions etc.
-
- Currently known problems that should be fixed for the version 1.00 release
- are:
-
- * Incorrect playback of the patches. I need comprehensive information on
- the patch file (.PAT) format to fix this. Problems include wrong envelope,
- possible wrong frequency on percussion instruments and no implementation
- of vibrato or tremolo.
- * Not handling MT-32 SYSEX 'all note off' messages, resulting in the the
- occasional stuck note. I need some info on the MT-32 sysex commands to
- correct this.
- * Several MIDI controls still need to be implemented - Pitch wheel, stereo,
- etc.
- * The Ultrasound playback routines need to be optimised for speed. I thought
- I would get them right before I did this.
- * May not work with the Ultrasound Irq set to 5. Can someone confirm this?
- * All known incompatibilty problems are listed in section 5 of MEGAEM.DOC.
- Please have a quick look there before reporting an incompatibilty.
-
- Please send any reports to: leesteer@tartarus.uwa.edu.au
- subject: Mega-Em Feedback.

-
- Welcome to Mega-Em. Mega-Em is a Roland sound device emulator for your
- Gravis Ultrasound Card.
-
- Please read section 1. of the users manual (MEGAEM.DOC).
- It is recommended you read through the manual before you use Mega-Em.
-
- Quick notes: You must run MEGAEM.EXE, then EMUSET.EXE before any
- emulation is active.
-
- Always run EMUSET between programs. This will reset Mega-Em
- internally. Many games require the MT-32 to be in a power
- on state to work correctly.
-
- Make sure your system bus speed is set to 8 MHz.
-
- Mega-Em is shareware. Unregistered Mega-Em will only produce
- sound output for 10 minutes after it is loaded. You will
- have to uninstall Mega-Em from memory, then reload it if you
- wish to use it again. See REGISTER.DOC for details on
- registering.
-
- Unregistered Mega-Em is slightly slower that the registered
- form, due to the overhead required to regularly check the system
- time.
