-
- FIXES:
-
- Fixed problem with session file name. Version 1 gave errors if
- session file name was more then 5 characters when processing tracks.
-
- CHANGES:
-
- Added a demo session.
-
- OVERVIEW:
-
- RSTUDIO is a multi track digital audio recording studio for the Gravis
- Ultrasound Max. RSTUDIO records raw 16 bit wave files at up to 48,000
- Hz and offers 8 tracks for simultaneous playback and record.
-
- QUICK START OPERATION:
-
- Start by typing rstudio <return> in the directory where the program
- resides. Enter a filename for the session and choose a recording
- frequency. (Choose a lower frequency for practice. Higher frequencys
- cause longer processing times for the playstack) Mic is the default
- input source, or push the Line Input button to record from line in.
- (Running a cord from the line out or headphone out of the amplifier to
- the line in on the sound card eliminates all background noise and
- produces a much cleaner recording) Push the record button to begin
- recording the first track. Push the stop button to quit recording and
- select Recording OK. Track 1 button will depress. The next time
- record is pushed track 1 will play simultaneously while track 2 is
- being recorded. After track 2 recording is complete track 2 button
- will depress. Push the record button again and tracks 1 and 2 will
- play simultaneously while track 3 is being recorded. Pushing play
- will play all tracks that are depressed. To quit press the power
- button and the session will be saved.
-
- ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
-
- Peak Meter:
-
- While recording the Peak Meter indicator should never enter the
- red zone.
-
- Frequency Selection:
-
- Although higher frequency's produce better recordings, recording
- 16 bit 48,000 Hz for 5 minutes takes up over 28 megs of disk
- space. So start at the lowest acceptable frequency. Higher
- frequencys also increase Playstack processing time.
-
- The Playstack:
-
- The Playstack is a file that is created when more than 1 track
- button is depressed. RSTUDIO uses the playstack to combine
- multiple tracks into one file. So each time a new recording is
- entered RSTUDIO has to process the new file into the Playstack.
- But each track still resides in its own untouched file for future
- processing.
-
- Removing or Deleting a Track from the Playstack:
-
- Simply push the depressed track button and then select option to
- remove or delete from Playstack. Sometimes static or distortion
- will be introduced into the playstack when removing multiple
- tracks. This can be overcome by removing all the track and then
- adding the desired tracks back to the Playstack.
-
- Recording over a Track:
-
- To record over a previously recorded track you must first remove
- or delete the track.
-
