  57. 2. How to setup "CD-ROM driver for Sound Blaster Card"
  58. ======================================================

  60.     Before you do any installation, please read the instruction that comes
  61.     with Windows NT for any setup information.
  62.  
  63.     There are two instants that you can install the SbcdNt.SYS driver.
  64.  
  65.     T E X T   S E T U P   P H A S E
  66.     -------------------------------

  68.     Follow the steps below if you want to start a new Windows NT system.  You
  69.     can then install the Windows NT using the CD-ROM drive on Sound Blaster
  70.     Card.  You need to use the boot disk that comes with Windows NT to start
  71.     the Windows NT installation.

  74.      1. Choose "Custom Setup" for Windows NT Setup.
  75.  
  76.      2. Enter "S" to install additional SCSI Adapters.
  77.  
  78.      3. Select "Other (Requires disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)".
  79.  
  80.      4. When the message "Manufacturer-supplied support disk into drive A:"
  81.         shown, insert the disk into drive A:, followed by Enter.
  82.  
  83.      5. Choose "CD-ROM driver for Sound Blaster Card" to install this driver.

  85.      6. Continue the normal setup procedure of Windows NT Setup that followed.

  89.     M A I N T E N A N C E   M O D E   S E T U P
  90.     -------------------------------------------

  92.     If you have already installed the Windows NT, follow the steps below to
  93.     install the driver.
  94.  
  95.      1. Open the "Main" program group.
  96.  
  97.      2. Invoke the program "Windows NT Setup".
  98.  
  99.      3. Open the pull down menu "Options".
  100.  
  101.      4. Select menu item "Add/Remove SCSI Adapters...".
  102.  
  103.      5. In the "SCSI Adapter Setup" poll out dialogue, press the "Add..."
  104.         button.
  105.  
  106.      6. Select "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" option
  107.         from "Select SCSI Adapter Option" poll out dialogue.
  108.  
  109.      7. Insert this disk into floppy drive A: or B: then press "OK" button.
  110.  
  111.      8. You will see pop out menu "Select OEM Option".  Choose "CD-ROM driver
  112.         for Sound Blaster Card" followed by "OK" button.  This will add
  113.         "CD-ROM driver for Sound Blaster Card" into the option list of
  114.         "Select SCSI Adapter Option".
  115.  
  116.      9. Press "Install" button to install the "CD-ROM driver for Sound Blaster
  117.         Card".
  118.  
  119.     10. You will see message "The SCSI Adapter selected is already installed".
  120.         Press "OK" button.
  121.  
  122.     11. Press "Cancel" button.  You will see "CD-ROM driver for Sound Blaster
  123.         Card" in the installed list.

  125.     12. Remember to restart the Windows NT for the driver to take effect.

  129. 3. How to install the Wave/MIDI, Auxiliary Audio and Synthesizer drivers
  130. ========================================================================

  132.     1. After installing Windows NT, run the "Control Panel" application,
  133.        the icon for which is in the "Main" group within the Program Manager
  134.        window.
  135.  
  136.     2. Activate the "Drivers" applet.
  137.  
  138.     3. Within the "Drivers" dialog box, press the "Add..." button.
  139.  
  140.     4. Within the "Add" dialog box, select "Unlisted or Updated Driver"
  141.        and press the "OK" button.
  142.  
  143.     5. Within the "Install Driver" dialog box
  144.         a. Type in the path to this disk in the text entry box
  145.         b. Insert this disk into the drive you've just specified
  146.         c. Press the "OK" button
  147.  
  148.     6. Within the "Add Unlisted or Updated Driver" dialog box, select either
  149.               "Creative Sound Blaster 16 Wave and MIDI"
  150.            or "Creative Sound Blaster Pro Wave and MIDI",
  151.        press the "OK" button, and follow the subsequent instructions on
  152.        configuring the driver.

  154.     7. Now install
  155.               "Creative Sound Blaster 16 Auxiliary Audio"
  156.            or "Creative Sound Blaster Pro Auxiliary Audio"
  157.  
  158.     8. Note that you will have to restart the system for the drivers
  159.        to take effect.

  163. 4. Installing the SB16 mixer
  164. ============================
  165.  
  166. The SB16 mixer is resided in the WIN32APP of this installation disk.
  167. Currently there is no installation program to install the mixer, you will
  168. have to copy the SB16WMIX.EXE & CTRES32.DLL from the WIN32APP subdirectory
  169. to your WIN32APP directory on your harddisk.
  170.  
  171. The following steps helps you to add the SB16 Mixer to your Windows NT 
  172. desktop:
  173.  
  174.     1. Click "New" at the "File" menu option from your Windows NT desktop.
  175.     2. Select "Common Program group" if you wish to create a new Program
  176.        Group for the SB16 mixer, if not, skip this step if you do not wish
  177.        to create any new group.
  178.     3. Select "Program item".
  179.     4. Use the "Browse" option to add the SB16 mixer.
  180.     5. It should be in the WIN32APP directory of your hard disk.

  184. 5. Notes for SBPro user
  185. =======================
  186.  
  187.     1. If you are using Sound Blaster Pro card, make sure to use MIC
  188.        for recording.  The current driver works only with MIC-In recording.
  189.        CD-In and Line-In will be available when the mixer application is
  190.        ready.
  191.  
  192.     2. If you are using Sound Blaster Pro card and the VOLUME CONTROL
  193.        application from Microsoft to control the volume, please note
  194.        that the application did not identify certain auxiliary devices
  195.        from the mixer and named it as AUX.
  196.
