  1. This updated FM driver version 1.31 will allow you to run the existing FM
  2. software with Windows version 3.1.  
  3.  
  4. To install the new driver: 
  5.  
  6. 1) Copy the file fm31.drv to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
  7.  
  8. 2) Edit the SYSTEM.INI file in your WINDOWS directory.  
  9.    Change the line
  10.  
  11.    sound.drv=mmsound.drv 
  12.  
  13.    under the section [boot] to read
  14.  
  15.      sound.drv=fm31.drv
  16.  
  17. 3) Restart Windows if you edit the file from within Windows.

  20. That's all there is to it.

  22. A couple of notes....
  23.  
  24. If you set the Beep source in the sound panel to use FM synthesized then
  25. you will receive an FM beep for errors.  If you set it to speaker it will use
  26. Wave audio if present, otherwise it will use the speaker.

  28. When queueing songs in Player make sure that the --End-- entry is highlighted
  29. before adding new songs.  If you accidentally add songs after the --End-- 
  30. entry then just select them and press the Remove button.
