- Dynamic Format
- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Congratulations on choosing a very useful program.
-
- SCENARIO: You have a whole bunch of disks with no labels. You don't know what
- is on them, so you do a DIR to be safe. This can be very BORING and
- redundant so this is where Dynamic Format comes in.
-
- Dynamic Format allows you to check the disk before formatting. It will then
- nicely ask you if you want to continue with format. Now some disk formatters
- aren't reliable and leave out bad sectors. So DFORMAT will search for DOS
- format and use it to format the disk. This way you will always have a reliable
- formatter as long as Microsoft (or IBM) keeps updating it.
-
- BUT WAIT!
-
- Not only that but formats can be kind of boring, especially if they are high
- density 3.5s. So DFORMAT gives you the option of playing MOD (music) files
- thru your PC Speaker OR SoundBlaster in the background while formatting.
- What more could you ask for?
-
- MORE!
-
- OK, ok. DFORMAT has a PC Tools like interface so it's easy to use and cool to
- look at and it also has some elements of Norton (like boxes). But you also
- get Smart Return which returns you to the DOS prompt exactly where you left off
- anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
-
- MORE?!
-
- DFORMAT will also check to make sure the disk is inserted (a la CP Backup)
- before proceeding. If not, it will prompt you to insert the disk and will keep
- scanning until you do.
-
- I have included a MOD (music) file for you to play in case you don't have any.
-
- [ESC] is the Quick Exit key.
-
- SYNTAX:
- -=-=-=-
- DFORMAT [/NOMOD] [/NOSYS] [/?]
-
-
- The optional /R switch is no longer needed as DFORMAT auto-detects drive
- settings from BIOS.
-
- The optional /NOMOD tells DFORMAT not to prompt for MOD files.
-
- /NOSYS will tell DFORMAT not to prompt you for system files. No system files
- will be copied.
-
- The optional /? tells DFORMAT to lists the available command-line switches.
- You can also use /HELP, HELP, ? or anything you can think of.
-
- During Lowering Volume at the end, you can press [ESC] to stop the sound faster
- than it does automatically.
