  2.            OS/2 Driver for the Sound Blaster Pro Panasonic CD Drive
  3.
  4.                    Beta Version 1.0
  5.
  6. Notes on IBM OS/2 CD-ROM Device Driver
  7.
  8. Summary
  9.
  10.
  11. This note describes how to use the device driver.  Feedback on any problems
  12. encountered are welcome. Please read the section titled: PROBLEM REPORTS
  13. later in this document.
  14.
  15. What you get and how to install it:
  16.
  17. First, remove the following line from the CONFIG.SYS file.
  18.
  19.     DEVICE=C:\OS2\CDROM.SYS
  20.
  21. You are given a copy of the device driver file, SBPCD2.SYS. This is a beta
  22. release version 1.0ß.  Users should include the following line into the
  23. CONFIG.SYS file:
  24.
  25.         DEVICE=C:\DRV\SBPCD2.SYS /P:220
  26.
  27. This is assuming the driver is located in the directory C:\DRV and the I/O
  28. address of the SoundBlaster Pro is set to the factory default of 220.
  29. Valid options for the /P parameter are 220, 240, 260 and 280.
  30.
  31. IMPORTANT: The CD-ROM device driver that comes with OS/2 will not work
  32. in conjunction with SBPCD2.SYS.
  33.
  34.                What is needed with the device driver?
  35.
  36. You need a Sound Blaster Pro card and a Matsushita CD-ROM drive, model
  37. CR-521-CAC. Both the internal and the external drives work with this device
  38. driver. If you have the earlier model of CD-ROM drive, the audio channel
  39. control function may not work very well. This problem will be fixed in
  40. a later version of device driver.
  41.
  42. You will also need two drivers, VCDROM.SYS and CDFS.IFS.  They are included
  43. with OS/2, and the following two lines should be included in the
  44. CONFIG.SYS file:
  45.
  46. IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q
  47. DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCDROM.SYS
  48.
  49. This is assuming the CDFS.IFS is located in the directory C:\OS2 and the
  50. VCDROM.SYS is located in the directory C:\OS2\MDOS.  For more information
  51. about these two drivers, please refer to your OS/2 manual.
  52.
  53. IMPORTANT:
  54.
  55. This driver is provided "AS IS".  Your only avenue to get bugs fixed is to
  56. complete the following form and either MAIL or FAX it to us.  There are no
  57. other methods of sending in bug reports at this time.  PLEASE do not call
  58. voice (To ANY department of Creative Labs) with bug reports.  We appreciate
  59. your input and assistance, but we do not have the resources to deal with
  60. these issues in realtime.  Also, if you FAX reports to us, make sure you
  61. send them to the Engineering Department FAX, and not the Technical Support
  62. FAX.  This will ensure that no reports are lost before they get into the
  63. proper hands and will speed their processing.
  64.
  65.
  66. Bug Report Form:
  67.
  68. If you encounter any bug, please complete the following form and print
  69. it out, and either mail or fax it to us.
