  5. This file provides a brief overview of the folders and files on this disk.
  6.  
  7. BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
  8. If you are not already configured for Shockwave, open the SHOCKSFT folder 
  9. on this CD and launch the Shockwave installer (16- or 32-bit). 
  10. The Shockwave version included on this CD is version 9 for Windows. 
  11. You may want to check Macromedia's Web site (www.macromedia.com) to 
  12. confirm that you have the latest version. For optimal performance, 
  13. you should have 8MB minimum RAM, and 6MB minimum free disk space.
  14. Please set your display to 8-bit,  256 colors.
  15.  
  16. IMPORTANT! 
  17. Remember that files with an .HTM extension can be opened by text editors 
  18. (such as NotePad and WebEdit) or by Web browsers (such as Netscape 
  19. Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer). If you wish to view HTML 
  20. source code, open an .HTM file using a text editor or drag and drop 
  21. the file onto the text editor's application icon. If you wish to view 
  22. an .HTM document as a Web page, launch your Web browser and choose 
  23. Open File from the File menu or drag and drop the file onto the 
  24. Web browser's application icon.

  26. WEBLINKS 
  27. This folder contains Bookmarks files for Navigator and Internet Explorer 
  28. that include links to the various areas of shockingtheweb.com, and 
  29. links to examples and movies referenced throughout the book.

  31. CDBROWSE.HTML 
  32. This HTML page provides links to all of the Shockwave movies on 
  33. the CD for offline viewing.
  34.  
  35. TUTORIAL 
  36. The Tutorial folder contains all example movies referenced throughout 
  37. the book chapters, including simple Lingo command movies, a Lingo 
  38. tutorial movie, and Shockwave movies that provide examples of net 
  39. Lingo scripts and media design and creation techniques. HTML, Shockwave 
  40. movies, and source Director movies for Case Study and Developer Gallery 
  41. Chapters 10 through 18 also are included in this folder.

  43. SOFTDEMO 
  44. Software demo versions of Macromedia Director, Authorware, Xres, FreeHand, Fontographer,
  45. Extreme3D, Backstage, and Action. Also includes Andromeda Filters.

  47. SHOCKSFT 
  48. Macromedia Shockwave plug-ins for Director, Authorware, xRes, FreeHand, 
  49. and SoundEdit16. Afterburner Xtra for Director also is included.
  50.  
  51. RESOURCE 
  52. The Resource folder contains the EarshotSFX sound library sampler that 
  53. features over 25MB of royalty-free sound effects; the Direct Loops demo, 
  54. which includes 20 royalty-free music loops; additional resources include 
  55. ViewPoint 3D model sampler, Adobe ImageClub Library sampler, CMCD digital 
  56. photographs and Shockwave animations from PhotoDisc, g/matter multimedia 
  57. product catalog, which includes 24 runtime Killer Transitions Xtras for 
  58. Director, plus a variety of Web authoring utilities.
