- -----Introduction-----
-
- This file archive contains scenery files in Volume 1 of my East Central
- scenery collection. (This, by the way, does imply that there will be future
- releases in both the East Central region and across the country). Located in
- this archive should be the following files:
-
- CHAMPAIGN.SCN CHAMPAIGN.DYN CHICAGO.SCN
- CHICAGO.DYN DANVILLE.SCN DANVILLE.DYN
- DANVILLE.MOD MOLINE.SCN MOLINE.DYN
- PEORIA.SCN PEORIA.DYN PEORIA.MOD
- README.1ST README.2ND (this file)
-
- If any of these files are missing or damaged, you may write me at my
- permanent address, and for the cost of registration ($5) plus $2 shipping and
- handling and a floppy disk, I will send you the archive. The address to write
- to is:
-
- John Mechalas
- 2830 Townway Rd.
- Danville, IL 61832
-
- You can also contact me via E-Mail at the following internet address:
-
- mechalas@gn.ecn.purdue.edu
-
- This address will be valid until the summer of '94, upon which I will
- graduate. My home/permanent address will be valid indefinitely.

- -----Scenery Coverage-----
-
- This archive contains both static and dynamic detailing for the airports/
- cities listed below. All files were designed to be overlaid on subLOGIC
- Scenery Disk 9**, with the exception of the Chicago scenery file. This file
- was designed to be used with the Flight Simulator*** default scenery.
-
- Scenery Area Airports North East
- ------------ -------- ----- -----
- Champaign/ University of Illinois/Willard 16400 16465
- Urbana Frasca Field 16448 16482
- Chicago Midway 17156 16628
- O'Hare 17244 16578
- Danville Vermilion County 16471 16685
- Moline Quad-City 17011 15736
- Peoria Greater Peoria Regional 16670 16000
-
- The reasons I chose to use default scenery as the basis for the Chicago file
- instead of Scenery Disk 9 are as follows: 1) The default scenery provides
- better detailing of the Chicago area than the subLOGIC scenery disk, 2) the
- default dynamic scenery can only be used with the default static scenery, and
- 3) more instrument approaches are supported for O'Hare airport, which kept me
- from having to enter all 12 of them on the scenery designer.
- Although there is a lot of overlap between Scenery Disk 9 and the FS4
- default scenery in the Illinois area, using the wrong scenery disk for flight
- will cause some overlay problems with the scenery designer files, as the
- default scenery and SD-9 scenery do not line up exactly.
-
-
- -----Memory Requirements-----
-
- You must allocate at least 11200 bytes for dynamic scenery and 10300 bytes
- for static scenery in order to load the largest scenery files.
-
-
- -----Instrument Approaches-----
-
- The following instrument approaches are supported by my scenery files. If
- you send in the $5 registration fee, I will send you (free of charge) copies of
- official instrument approach plates, as published by the NOAA. These terminal
- procedure charts will allow you to utilize the ILS approaches to their fullest
- potentials; and if you plan to do any serious armchair piloting, I strongly
- recommend them.

-
- -----General Scenery Information-----
-
- The visual approaches were a little difficult to create precisely, so there
- may be some variances between the actual/published approaches and the object
- and scenery placement on the scenery files. They are, however, accurate enough
- for your flying purposes.
- O'Hare and Midway are probably the most detailed airports in this
- collection, particularly O'Hare with it's abundance of approach lighting (this
- is a sight that is particularly attractive at night).
-
-
- Enjoy!
