  1. Thank you for trying EZDoom! 1.0 Doom ][ Shell and Setup Program.

  3. This program runs in DOS, but has a Microsoft Windows Appearance.

  6. Installation Instructions:
  7.  
  8. This is the really easy part.  All you have to do is copy the
  9. EZDoom2.exe file to your Doom 2 directory.  EZDoom2.exe is a
  10. self extracting file that will create three files in your Doom ][
  11. directory.  They are:
  12.  
  13. 1.      EZDoom.EXE ......... The Main Executable File
  14. 2.      EZ.BAT ............. Batch file used to start EZDoom!
  15. 3.      EZDoom.TXT ......... The file your are now reading
  16.  
  17. When EZDoom creates Batch Files, those batch files will be stored 
  18. in the directory where you installed Doom 2.
  19.  
  20. IMPORTANT:  EZDoom! 1.0 must be run from the directory where you
  21. installed Doom 2!  If you use the file EZ.BAT, and the program cannot
  22. find the Doom2.EXE file, it will prompt you to copy the EZDoom! files
  23. over to the correct location.

  26. This version of Doom 2 currently operates with Doom 2 1.666 through
  27. Doom 2 1.7a and perhaps also with later patches that come out.

  30. What is EZDoom! and how much does it cost?

  32. 1.      EZDoom! is a DOS based Doom ][ loader, designed for Doom ][.
  33.     it has NOT been tested on Doom 1 at all, so don't expect it 
  34.     to work for Doom 1.

  36. 2.      EZDoom! is Totally, 100% free.  However, if you like the
  37.     program, I would appreciate hearing any comments you might

  42. What are the features of EZDoom!?

  45. 1.      EZDoom! supports most of the common Doom ][ command line
  46.     switches, including support for Warp to levels 31 & 32.
  47.  
  48.     Using EZDoom!, you can play in single or modem modes.
  49.  
  50.     EZDoom! also has a built in Text Editor for editing various
  51.     text files (.CFG, .TXT and so forth).
  52.  
  53.     EZDoom! allows you to use your mouse to select your game
  54.     options, and then decide to play you game right then, or 
  55.     create a batch file to run your game later from the DOS
  56.     prompt automatically.  Two files will be created when you
  57.     create a batch file.

  59.     1.      The batch file itself
  60.     2.      A .CFG file that contains the parameters that the
  61.         batch file will use to start Doom ][.

  63.     Using the Text Editor, you can also edit the batch files
  64.     that were created for you by EZDoom!.

  67. 2.      This program will load one or more external wad files for Doom ][.
  68.     Because there are so many WAD files out there...I cannot say for
  69.     sure that this program will work for each WAD.  For example if a 
  70.     WAD happens to be a Doom 1 WAD then it probably won't work.
