  1. README.1ST:  for THE PRESIDENTS(c) v1.7  - SHAREWARE -
  2.  
  3.     This program is for people interested in the history of the United
  4. States of America.  It provides short biographies of all the Presidents
  5. and presents tests and quizzes in various ways so that the user may
  6. review in a non-threatening atmosphere.
  7.  
  8. INSTALLATION
  9.  
  10.      These programs cannot fit on one disk.  They are compressed with LHARC
  11. by Yoshi.  PRES-A.EXE contains QUIZPRES.EXE, PRES.DOC and all the tests.
  12. It also contains the biographies of the last six Presidents (PR35-39.COM &
  13. PR40.COM) which do not fit on the second disk.

  15.      PRES-B.EXE contains all but the last six Presidential biographies,
  16. READPRES.BAT file, REPLY.COM and LISTPRES as a menu for listing, selecting 
  17. and reading the biographies.
  18.  
  19.      Have two formated disks ready.  Place the first in Drive B:.  Type B:.
  20. The cursor should now look like "B:>".  Type A:PRES-A.EXE and the files will
  21. be extracted and placed on the blank disk in drive B:.  Mark that disk Pres-A.
  22. Replace that disk with the second formated disk.  Repeat the process with
  23. PRES-B.EXE.  Mark that disk Pres-B.
  24.  
  25.      It would be wise to now make a back-up of those two disks.  If you wish
  26. to have a bootable disk, format the Pres-A disk with the /S option and copy
  27. all of the Pres-A files to the bootable disk but not the PRES.DOC file.  This
  28. should give you sufficient room for the necessary files.  You do not need the
  29. DOC file to run the program.

  31.      If you have disks of greater density you may place all the files on
  32. one disk or one directory.  Be sure to move to the destination before
  33. unpacking these programs.
  34.  
  35.      Read the directions (in the DOC) file on the operation of the program.
  36.  
  37.      The ANSI.SYS (or NANSI.SYS) should be loaded for the .BAT file to work
  38. properly.  Place DEVICE=ANSI.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS file.
