  6. To get this information, I will first display    '
  7. 10 statements about childhood and ask you how    '
  8. much you agree with each of them.  I will then   '
  9. check to see if I got it right and give you a    '
  10. chance to correct any mistakes I made.           '

  12. Then, I will show you nine descriptions of       '
  13. children and ask you how pleased you would be    '
  14. if your child turned out that way.  There are    '
  15. no right or wrong choices, so be honest.         '

  18. of how you see yourself, and how you would       '
  19. describe your child.                             '

  23. 19 pairs of words and ask you to rank yourself   '
  24. on a scale with these words on the two extremes. '

  26. Then, I will display 19 pairs of words along     '
  27. with a scale and ask you to rank your child      '
  28. along the scale.  This will allow me to get to   '
  29. know you and your child a little better before   '
  30. saying anything.  Remember that your first im-   '
  31. pression is often the best when using scales.    '

  33. Now, I need information about your opinions on   '
  34. various types of rewards and punishments that    '
  35. parents use effectively.  Here, I am trying to   '
  36. get a sense of what will work for you and        '
  37. your child.                                      '

  39. To do this, I will show you 10 different types   '
  40. of rewards and ask you how comfortable you would '
  41. be using each of them.  I will check out my      '
  42. understanding and give you a chance to change    '
  43. your response if you wish.                       '
