- WHAT IS ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT DESIGNER?
- Through interactive programming technique Electronic Circuit
- Designer takes much of the tedium out of designing the more common
- electronic circuits. The 62 programs that comprise Electronic
- Circuit Designer help the design engineer or technician play "What
- if?" with the design. He can quickly substitute component values,
- change parameters and design specifications, and immediately see
- the effects. Electronic Circuit Designer will free the technician
- to concentrate on the circuit design instead of studying reference
- tables and books of equations and entering numbers into a
- calculator.
-
- HOW TO RUN ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT DESIGNER
- To start the program, type "ECD" at the DOS prompt and press the
- "Enter" key. The batch file ECD.BAT will run Electronic Circuit
- Designer from this disk. Arrow keys and the "Enter" key select
- menu items. The "Escape" key will return you to the main menu
- from anywhere in the program. Numeric data enters from right to
- left, calculator style. Zero and negative numbers are locked out
- of most entries to prevent errors. Where negative numbers are
- allowed the sign shows to the right of the number.
-
- PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- This program requires color graphics and supports CGA and EGA
- graphics and can display on VGA equipped computers. The program
- can be run from a floppy and requires 320k of free memory.
-
- DISCLAIMER
- This release of ECD may be freely distributed so long as this
- README file remains with the program and the program remains
- unaltered. The author assumes no liability for the use or misuse
- of this program.

- Since the review in the May 1990 issue of Electronics World &
- Wireless World the program has undergone two major revisions. The
- first upgrade moved the program to a compiled language and added
- EGA/VGA graphics support. The current version 3.1 adds additional
- functions in basic electronics and communications. Although the
- program is fully self documenting I have prepared a 22 page manual
- to further support the program.
-
- For a $25.00 registration fee plus shipping cost, the registered
- owner will receive the latest updated version of the program and
- manual. All registered users will receive update notices of new
- releases.
-
- HISTORY
- I wrote the first version of this program for the TRS 80 about 5-6
- years ago. Later when I upgraded to an IBM I rewrote the program
- (version 2) in GWBasic. The program was for my personal use in
- deciphering other engineers circuit designs. In 1987 I up-loaded
- the program to a local bulletin board hoping someone else might
- find it useful.
-
- Somehow the program found its way across the Atlantic where
- Electronics World & Wireless World magazine reviewed it. I
- learned of the review when orders started to flow in.
-
- Encouraged by orders from around the world, I moved the program to
- Quick Basic 4.5. The addition of support for EGA/VGA graphic and
- self documentation quickly followed. Added functions in BASIC
- ELECTRONICS and COMMUNICATIONS are the latest enhancements in
- version 3.1. I am currently working on the next version, soon to
- be released, adding functions suggested by letters from users.
