  15. INSTALLATION:
  16. ============
  17. To install "ORIENTAL BEAUTY'S CLUB (1) MOVIE MOTION", use File Manager to run
  18. the setup.exe program in the \BUTYPLAY directory on the CD-ROM.  The setup
  19. program will copy the Video for Windows (runtime) include MPLAYER.EXE to your
  20. hard drive.

  23. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  24. ===================
  25. To use "ORIENTAL BEAUTY'S CLUB (1) MOVIE MOTION", you should have a 386 or
  26. better CPU with 8-bit (256 color), 15-bit (32k color), 16-bit (64k color), or
  27. 24-bit (Truecolor) graphics, a sound card, Microsoft Windows 3.1 and DOS 5.0 or
  28. 6.0, and a mouse.

  31. IMPROVING VIDEO PLAYBACK PERFORMANCE:
  32. ====================================
  33. 1. Upgrade Your Video Card.
  34.   A graphics (256 color minimum) accelerator card can improve video playback.
  35. You will see maximum performance, measured by frames per second, in a 256-color
  36. mode. Modes with greater than 256 colors provide better color at a slower
  37. frames per second rate. Placing the video card into a system using either PCI
  38. or VESA Local bus will also improve perform. The recommended mode is
  39. 640x480x256, 640x480x32k or 640x480x64k.

  41. 2. Update Your Graphics Drivers.
  42.   Make sure that you have the most current graphics drivers availabe. Call you
  43. graphics vendor or check your documentaion to find out how you can get the
  44. current drivers.
  45.  
  46. 3. Upgrade Your Microprocessor (CPU).
  47.   For example, a computer based on the intel 486 microprocessor benefits from
  48. install an OverDrive(TM) processor or upgrading to a Pentium(TM) process.

  51. VIDEO PROBLEMS:
  52. ==============
  53. Some high-resolution video cards require updated driver software for
  54. operation of Video for Windows.  If you experience color display problems,
  55. Please contact your video board manufacturer to see if newer driver software
  56. is available.

  58. Make sure you are using the most recent versions of HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.EXE,
  59. and SMARTDRV.EXE.  The copies that came with DOS 6.0 are the most recent, and
  60. Windows 3.1 files are better than DOS 5.0 files.  Your config.sys should
  61. have something like the following:

  64. DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
  65. DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM NOEMS

  67. Your autoexec.bat should have something like:

  69. C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE 1024 1024       (if you have 8 MB or more memory)
  70. C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE 1024 512        (if you have less memory)

  73. MEMORY PROBLEMS:
  74. ===============
  75. Video for Windows and Windows 3.1 is very memory hungry.  The best way to
  76. speed-up video quality and display is to have at least 8 MB RAM.  if you have
  77. less, make sure you do not have EMM386 allocating any expanded memory.  Also,
  78. you should have SMARTDRV using as little memory as possible (512K cache).  The
  79. biggest performance improvement other than upgrading to a 486 is to have more
  80. memory.

  82. You can also use the 386 enhanced Virtual Memory settings to create a permanent
  83. swap file.  This seems to improve performance slightly, but more RAM is better.
