  6. Legal Declaration

  9. In the legal declaration below, "This Product" is defined to be all the
  10. files within the original archive (ie. not just !ArcWeb, it includes any
  11. support applications bundled with it), excluding those provided by other
  12. contributing authors.

  14. "the author" is Stewart Brodie (S.N.Brodie@ecs.southampton.ac.uk)
  15.  
  16. "contributing authors" refers to the authors of any other software
  17. which is included in the archive.

  19. Copyright of the product remains with the author.  Copyright of anything else
  20. in the archive remains with the contributing authors.  The Terms regarding
  21. this product given in this file may be taken to also apply to the software of
  22. the contributing authors, except where an alternative set of Terms for that
  23. software is supplied, in which case the contributing author's Terms augment
  24. those in this file.  In case of conflict, the contributing authors' terms
  25. prevail.  The contributing authors' terms may be found in files called
  26. <initials>_Terms where initials are the contributing author's initials.

  29. This version of this product is 'freeware'.  My definition of 'freeware': 
  30. This means that the author retains copyright over the product, and the
  31. contributing authors retain copyright over their portions, but allow
  32. unlimited distribution except:

  35.    i) No charge must be made (except for a nominal fee for distribution media)
  36.   ii) This Product must be distributed as a complete package
  37.  iii) This Product may not be distributed as part of a non-free
  38.       [free as in (i)] package (of any kind, magazine/hardware/software)

  40.       authors.
  41.   iv) During further redistribution, it must be made clear to the recipient
  42.       that no remote fetching tools are included in the archive, unless such
  43.       tools have been added by the redistributor.  It must also be made clear
  44.       that these fetching tools are not part of the original distribution.

  61. of the package, and does not guarantee to fix any reported bugs, although the
  62. author will investigate bug reports and may release new versions.

  66. Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is a registered trademark of, and a service
  67. mark of, CompuServe Inc.  This product does NOT include any code for the
  68. manipulation of GIF format files, except to recognise that the 3 letters G I
  69. F at (offsets 0 to 2 inclusive) in a file indicate a GIF format file.  In
  70. particular this product does not contain any version of LZ compression or
  71. decompression code.  This program is not subject to restrictions imposed on
  72. GIF and LZW related products as declared by Unisys on 28 December 1994, or
  73. any future declarations of patent ownership on said GIF or LZ technologies. 
  74. The "gif2spr" utility does include LZ code and is subject to the term &
  75. conditions in the contributing authors terms & conditions.

  83. FTP Uploads
  84. ===========

  86. The primary FTP site is now cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk in /pub/Acorn/ArcWeb
  87.  
  88. This version has also been uploaded by the author to ftp.demon.co.uk and
  89. micros.hensa.ac.uk.  These sites will hold the most recent version, subject
  90. to a short delay when a new version is released while the archive maintainer
  91. moves the archive into position.

  93. Uploading to other FTP sites is unrestricted, unless that site mirrors either
  94. of the two sites nominated in the previous paragraph, in which case uploading
  95. should not occur.  (Let the mirroring software do its job - except for the
  96. new mirror of HENSA/micros's Acorn section at ftp.demon.co.uk, which I shall
  97. personally upload).
