- require is drawfile.arc which you must remember to download in BINARY mode.

-
- Installation
- ============
-
- *** You must not install this version over version 0.34 or earlier.<------
-
- Specifically, the !WebHelper directory from your old version should be
- deleted, since it contains a lot of things which are no longer required (in
- particular: !ArcWebLcl, !ArcWebImg, gif2spr, giftrans directories are no
- longer required in the WebHelper directory). If you do not do this, then you
- will be wasting 128K of memory which ArcWebLcl & ArcWebImg are taking up.
- Those programs are integrated in ArcWeb itself.
-
- You should copy out the complete contents of the archive to a directory
- *close to the root directory* of a drive, and then reboot in order that
- the path variables point to the extracted versions rather than the
- copies in the archive. (For reasons why it has to be close to the root,
- see 'Problems' Q18).
-
- Note that the cache will also be destroyed when this version starts for
- the first time if you were previously using version 0.34 or earlier.
- It won't destroy your hotlists or choices, only the cached pages.
-
- When you run it for the first time, you should click SELECT over ArcWebTCP
- icon bar icon and check the configuration. Click on the Help icon at the
- top of the window for detailed instructions in what these options mean.
-
- You should ensure that you have fixed ChangeFSI appropriately. See
- the file ChgFSi_fix for complete details on how to install the fix,
- which will prevent "GIF file with , in the wrong place" errors.
-
-
-
- Usage with Acorn TCP/IP
- =======================
-
- If you want to use the Acorn TCP/IP software, then you can get this from:
- ftp://ftp.acorn.co.uk/pub/riscos/releases/networking/DCI4/
- or preferably from:
-
- However, at the time of writing there is no DCI4 SLIPDriver available
- which is FREE. There is at least one commercial one (from Gnome)
-
-
- Viewing Audio files
- ===================
-
- If you want to hear audio, then you will require SoundCon by Rick Hudson.
- Version 1.51 and later of SoundCon include support for the ArcWeb protocols
- and can be found at ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/acorn/sound/ or at
- ftp://micros.hensa.ac.uk/micros/arch/riscos/d/d044/
-
- At the time of writing, SoundCon is at version 1.60
-
-
- Viewing Video files
- ===================
-
- If you want to see MPEGs then you need something like !MPEGPlay. Lots of
- other movie formats can be played by MovieFS.
-
- MPEGplay is at ftp://micros.hensa.ac.uk/micros/arch/riscos/a/a258/
- A *restricted playback* version of MovieFS is available freely from:
- ftp://ftp.comlab.ox.ac.uk/tmp/Robin.Watts/
-
-
- Where to get the latest ArcWeb
- ==============================
-
- ArcWeb is available (via HTTP) from:
-
- http://www.dsse.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~snb94r/arcweb/arcweb.arc
-
- It is also available for FTP from: cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk as
- /pub/Acorn/ArcWeb/arcweb_0.38.spk (for Spark) OR
- /pub/Acorn/ArcWeb/arcweb_0.38.arc (for ArcFS)
-
- and from: micros.hensa.ac.uk as
- /micros/arch/riscos/c/c135/arcweb.spk
-
- and from: ftp.demon.co.uk as
- /pub/archimedes/www/arcweb_0.38.spk
-
-
- The Acorn section of the HENSA/micros archive is now mirrored in the Demon
- /pub/mirrors/hensa directory. It is also mirrored at ftp.uni-stuttgart.de.
- See the fortnightly posting by Gerben Vos on comp.sys.acorn.announce for more
- details on archive sites and mirroring arrangements.
-
- I highly recommend that you look at the ArcWeb home page (go to my home page
- [shown below] and follow the link to it) if you have already have http:
- capability, and that if you DON'T, get it running on local files first before
- attempting network access. The supplied HTML files contain descriptions of
- how to configure the software. You DO NOT NEED network access in order to
- read the local files.
-
-
-
- This release was made on 12 October 1995.
-
- Bugs Fixed & Improvements since 0.37
- ====================================
-
- Adding a link to the hotlist caused the page to be fetched as well.
- It no longer does.
-
- news: URLs are correctly decoded. news: URLs for particular articles
- should NOT include the < and > delimiters. Earlier versions reject URLs
- if they do not have the < and >, but this was wrong.
-
- I have finally ditched the idea of using transformed text objects. I'm
- just calculating the bounding box and the font size and letting it get
- on with it - diagrams now work properly, and export to draw properly too.
- Everything draws much faster too because of it.
-
- !FilerURLs included in the distribution again - this was omitted from
- 0.38 by mistake
-
- The renderer was attempting to dump the draw diagram to the RAM disc
- upon completion. This was a debugging feature which accidentally
- got compiled into version 0.37 :-(
-
- The renderer gets confused by blank lines in plain text files (it stops!)
- This is now fixed.
-
- Imagemaps are fixed again.
-
- Hotlist code reorganised to avoid the fatal errors
-
-
- Known Bugs
- ==========
-
- TEXTAREA elements are not handled properly, because the size is limited to
- that given in the HTML definition (which should only refer to the visual
- characteristics of the area, not its actual maximum dimensions.
-
- The DrawFile module appears to be ignoring the left hand wastage fields in
- the sprite definitions which results in some sprites not displaying
- correctly.
-
- Not my fault: RmEnsure'ing the DrawFile module when an earlier version is
- already loaded causes an odd 'nager: Sprites22' error. This is not the fault
- of ArcWeb and is experienced by other programs which use DrawFile 1.01.
-
- Diagrams exported by ArcWeb which contain JPEG objects are objected to by
- Draw which does not render them correctly.
-
- Other Information
- =================
-
- Information, including known bugs and future enhancements, can be found at
- http://www.dsse.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~snb94r/arcweb/arcweb.html
-
- My base line specification document is the latest IETF working draft:
- "HyperText Markup Language Specification - 2.0" Berners-Lee, Connolly, et
- al. Date: 16th June 1995. This is an IETF draft which carries a 6 month
- maximum lifespan. <draft-ietf-html-spec-04.txt> from IETF FTP mirrors. A
- copy of this document is available at my new web server's address:
- http://www.dsse.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~snb94r/ which contains details on where to
- obtain an official copy in your area of the planet. I have aimed to ensure
- that version 0.20 has a minimum of total conformance to this draft (possibly
- excepting textareas). Features that are part of the next version of HTML may
- or may not be supported at this time - some currently are, some aren't.
-
- My base line specification document for HTTP is the latest IETF working draft
- of 8 August 1995. The current standards track documents are also used as a
- basis for planning future extensions.
