- makeinfo converts TeXinfo source into a gnuinfo file
- 'makeinfo -h' gives a summary of command line options
- -----------------------------------------------------
- default info path set up is /etc/info
- default terminal type is acorn31
- (since gnuinfo calculates the screen size, the terminal
- size specified in the termcap entry is ignored. acorn12
- and acorn31 then become equivalent)
-
- !SmallTask (on an Acorn User cover disk) runs GnuInfo
- perfectly (apart from speed of update).
- !Zap and !Edit's taskwindows can't cope with GnuInfo
- !VMode ran GnuInfo but *immensely* slowly AFAIR
-
- GnuInfo also ran under the ANSI.SYS emulator module
- (from Hensa?) but slowly and with restrictions.
-
- printing nodes works by creating a temporary file and
- then doing DEFAULT_INFO_PRINT_COMMAND ("unixcat > printer: ")
- [unixcat taking input from stdin and dumping it to stdout]
- -----------------------------------------------------
- if anyone can get a termcap that can do actual
- reverse video, then I'd like a copy. I can't get it
- to work properly (hence the coloured status bar)
- -----------------------------------------------------
- lots of things crash GnuInfo at the moment (pressing
- backspace, starting with no command line arguments etc)
- I think it's to do with UnixLib (because I can't remember
- whether I used cc or gcc to compile it). If anyone can
- figure out why, I'd be grateful.
- -----------------------------------------------------
- If anyone wants the source, or anything else GNU-related
- (like ed :)
