  7. Brief notes for users of previous versions ================================

  9. Upgrading from previous versions of MailBot
  10. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  11.    v1.20 has had a fairly comprehensive restructuring of the way it keeps
  12. its data, which is now stored in User pseudo application as per TCPIP.
  13. Consequently upgrading from previous versions is a bit of a hassle, but with
  14. future updates will be much simpler - just a case of replacing MailBot.
  15. It'll be better in the long run, trust me, OK then, don't. :)

  17. 1) Copy !MBotUser into the same directory as your old copy of !MailBot.
  18. 2) Double click on !MBotUser - this will open the Bot:User filer window.
  19. 3) Delete the "Exclude" file in the resulting.
  20. 4) Delete everything in the "Files" directory.
  21. 5) Shift-Double Click on your old copy of !MailBot.
  22. 6) Copy the Log and Script files from inside your old !Mailbot to the
  23.    Bot:User filer window.
  24. 7) Copy the "Files" directory from inside your old !Mailbot to the
  25.    Bot:User filer window.
  26. 8) Now delete your old copy of !Mailbot, and copy the new version in.

  29. : If you are using NewsBase, load the file
  30. : !NewsBase.transports.ka9q.params file. Then edit line reading :

  44. CLI Parameters to the MailBot command
  45. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  46.    If no CLI parameters are given MailBot now uses the system variables
  47. MailBot$Options and MailBot$ScriptFile. These are set in the
  48. !MBotUser.!Options Obey file. So, for silent running you load
  49. !MBotUser.!Options into a text editor, and insert a Q inbetween the quotes
  50. of the line setting MailBot$Options.
