- Use BinHex 4.0 (or 5.0) & Stuffit 1.5.1 or Stuffit classic to extract
- the server files.
-
- This folder contains Think C 5.0 source for a Macintosh
- NNTP server. In order to use this NNTP server on a Macintosh
- you must have MacTCP installed. MacTCP is available from
- APDA: (800) 282-2732, in Canada (800) 637-0029,
- and international (408) 562-3910. The NNTP server runs on
- the same Macintosh as your news reader, and uses MacTCP
- to provide the normal NNTP server interface to the news reader.
- This NNTP server is provided with complete source. It is
- intended only as an example to be used for the development
- of 'real' news readers or NNTP servers.
-
- In the future, the hope is that all of the common Mac news
- readers will be updated to allow the use of local storage
- devices (CDs, hard disks, and floppys). The interface used
- in this server is compatable with any local storage devices,
- not just CDs. Can you imagine taking your portable along on
- vacation, with a few megabytes of news dumped to floppys,
- in order to catch up on reading your favorite newsgroups!
