  1. Use BinHex 4.0 (or 5.0) & Stuffit 1.5.1 or Stuffit classic to extract
  2. the server files.

  4. This folder contains Think C 5.0 source for a Macintosh
  5. NNTP server.  In order to use this NNTP server on a Macintosh
  6. you must have MacTCP installed.  MacTCP is available from
  7. APDA:   (800) 282-2732, in Canada (800) 637-0029,
  8. and international (408) 562-3910. The NNTP server runs on
  9. the same Macintosh as your news reader, and uses MacTCP
  10. to provide the normal NNTP server interface to the news reader.
  11. This NNTP server is provided with complete source.  It is
  12. intended only as an example to be used for the development
  13. of 'real' news readers or NNTP servers.

  15. In the future, the hope is that all of the common Mac news
  16. readers will be updated to allow the use of local storage
  17. devices (CDs, hard disks,  and floppys).  The interface used
  18. in this server is compatable with any local storage devices,
  19. not just CDs.  Can you imagine taking your portable along on
  20. vacation, with a few megabytes of news dumped to floppys,
  21. in order to catch up on reading your favorite newsgroups!
