- Hmmm. Yes, one-time pads are secure provided they aren't re-used, the
- key is non-repeating and is truly random. The bit stream from a DAT or
- CD player might not be random enough, even if you add the 'dithering'
- you suggest. Your idea about FM radio wouldn't work if the sender and
- receiver weren't within the range of the same transmitter(s). It's
- also impractical for the average punter to use one-time pads in the
- way you suggest for protecting telephone conversations (which is where
- this thread originally started).
