- I don't really agree there. Reg Perrin has aged badly I think because of
- the gratuitous use of those thought-association gags with the wife as a
- hippo or whatever. Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't even born when Monty
- was first shown and I love it. However, there is a great deal of formula
- to be found in Monty gags. For example, what I call the Thesaurus formula,
- where they reel out about twenty different ways of saying the same thing,
- yet it's still funny. eg. the Parrot Sketch and the Cheese Shop Sketch
- (hundreds of ways of saying "dead" hundreds of different kinds of cheese).
- There was another that I spotted during one episode, but I can't think
- of it now.

- It's a shame that the only programme to carry on the same strange traditions
- as Monty is A Bit Of Fry & Laurie, which I feel has a similar surreal
- feel to it.
