  13. In the past I have experienced this problem in Britain, when the cards
  14. were more closely tied to banks, so you needed a Barclay's account (if
  15. you were a shop/restaurant etc) to pay in your slips to.  This is not so
  16. much of a problem now, since most banks support both  sorts of card!

  18. I have experienced having my VISA refused in Germany (West), but Access
  19. accepted at the same hotel.  I carrry one of each sort of card (both fee
  20. free) to guard against this possibility.
