- By "we" you must mean White Industrial Culture. The indigenous inhabitants
- of this continent had existed in almost perfect interaction with the
- environment for at least ten thousand years and were quite fond of what
- White Modernists call a "nasty piece of work." The same is true of the
- African natives, whose habitat was much less robust but was loved and
- nurtured by them until a few hundred years ago, when technology was
- elevated to its irrational preference over nature. Living in nature
- requires little technology--in fact it is most hostile to humans who
- rely on technology for survival. Native Americans knew this, and placed
- strict edicts against unnescessary advances of technology.
