- "You have pretty eyes", she said to me as she walked beside the stretcher.
- Every day after, she was there, tending me gently, watching me. She
- would leave every night saying: "I like your eyes." As my strength returned,
- I began to converse with her of many things, it mattered little if important
- or inane.
- I can still remember her face, her one empty socket just her. I never
- noticed, until she would speak of my eyes. I woke eventually to find my
- limbs bound, her above me, spoon in hand. "I like your eyes". Her stomach
- growled in anticipation.
