- disturbing evidence begins to appear. the bones are thicker,
- heavier; at times we discover odd shapes relieved in the rock,
- as of strange species plucked away behind our backs; we find
- whole skeletons in positions they should not possibly have been
- able to achieve; and there are strange beetles crawling the
- cliff, which not even our entomologist has been able to identify.
