- So yesterday I rented a car and drove up to Milwaukee with Denny to
- visit Mark Lippert and St. Theresa of the Net.
-
- We arrived about 30 minutes late. We decided to go through Chicago
- instead of around it. It was fun. As we entered Milwaukee, Denny
- began to sing the Laverne and Shirley song. Just then, we rounded a
- curve and the Blatz brewing co. came into view. We found Mark, or he
- found us, at Oakland Gyros. We ordered food. I ordered way too much.
-
- Just as we were leaving, Terri came in. She was on lunch break (this
- was 8:20 pm) and came over to see if we were there yet. We wandered
- down the street and talked for a bit in the Wallgreen's where we
- argued about l'eggs containers and sizes. We also pointed out that
- earmuffs cost more than twice as much (a dollar more!) in Milwaukee
- than in Champaign.
-
- Terri had to go back to work, so Mark and Denny and I went over to the
- Boardwalk, where we got good seats for PAT and began to drink. After
- a while, PAT came on.
-
- PAT McCurdy is someone everyone needs to see. Everyone must make a
- pilgrimage to Milwaukee to come see PAT with Mark and Terri. He's
- playing at CC on Wednesday and at the Boardwalk again on Feb. 13.
- Mark it in your calendars.
-
- Terri finished work and joined us after the first couple of PAT songs;
- we had a good time, sang along, and drank too much. PAT even played
- Denny's request, the theme from "Shaft". All was well with the
- universe.
-
- We crashed at Terri's place. It's very small. She has two cats.
- Although two is a small number compared to Rick Kelly's House of Ten
- Cats, I would wager that Terri's Casa de Interesting has a much higher
- cats-per-square-foot ratio than the RMK home.
-
- The cats did not fail to purr; however, they did fail miserably to
- perform their assigned duty: to fall asleep on my chest. Of the three
- people in that tiny space, I believe I am the only one who is not
- allergic to cats.
-
- We woke up much too early and walked much too far in weather that was
- much too cold to get to the car. We had to be back in Champaign by
- noon, so we had to leave Milwaukee by 8. We drove Terri back to Casa
- de Interesting, thanked her and were off. Denny's respiratory system
- was functional again by the time we reached Kenosha.
-
- A fun sat/sun indeed. Of course, no account of time spent with Terri
- would be complete without mentioning that her neck is, as has been
- pointed out in this forum before, a perfect model of a delicate fourth
- order function.
-
- Mark also bestowed on us a gift of three bottles of various batches of
- his homebrew. These remain unopened so far; a review will be
- forthcoming. I, of course, totally forgot to bring any of my
- homebrew.
