- I'm a 42 year old, white, employed male. Somebody informed me the other
- day that I am now the establishment. Frankly, I wouldn't have known had
- it not been pointed out to me. I'm no longer, as I have believed, the
- disenfranchised. If there is a responsibility that I think ought to be
- shouldered, I have to stand up here and do it rather than carping about
- the "system". I am the system.
-
- The building of a highway is an acceptance of responsibility. There is
- no shirking of responsibility in working together for some common goal.
- I am willing to work together with the woman who wants an abortion.
-
- I am willing to help out with the responsilbilites as a tax payer by
- asking that my tax dollars be spent on abortions where unwanted pregnancy
- has not been prevented. And by asking that no one who seeks an abortion
- finds the process made more painful by state imposed obstacles. And
- by asking that the woman be allowed to make the decision that she will
- have to live with, rather than having those decisions imposed upon her.
-
- This is my will not just because there are too many of us, but because
- I can't stomach the idea of sentencing some woman to a course of child
- bearing or child rearing for the "crime" of having sex.
-
- I've seen women starving themselves, implanting themselves with deadly
- silicon tits and inflated lips.. all sort of self destruction and self
- distortion in what appears to be an attempt to attract men. In this
- context, having risky sex may be a mistake, sometimes even an insanity,
- but not a crime. I'm not willing to punish people who appear to me to be
- ensnared in this cultural tsunami that inter-gender relations have become.
-
- If I truly saw abortion as murder.. the taking of life, rather than
- the prevention of life, I must admit, my thinking might be different.
- In fact, I see the blocking of abortion as the depriving of a woman of
- her freedom.
