  17. counseling centers' (as they are called here in California, because
  18. state law prohibits them from calling themselves `clinics' when they
  19. clearly are not clinics).

  21. The parallel has a certain charming balance actually -- considering
  22. that, in the light of continuing failures to effect change in the
  23. status quo by blocking access to women's health clinics, the
  24. pro-`life' emphasis from here on out, if one is to believe Cal Thomas
  25. in his latest anti-abortion-rights diatribe, will be a `strategy of
  26. containment', a phrase explicitly lifted from anti-Communist dogma,
  27. characterized by propaganda, and covert activity... exactly of the
  28. nature commonly practiced by the purveyors of such `services.'

  30. I can see it now -- ``Save the innocent from the clutches of evil!
  31. We must prevent BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY these propaganda mills from
  32. disseminating their vicious lies and calculated distortions to
  33. desperate women in need of accurate information and compassionate
  34. counseling!'' Etcetera.  You get the drill.

  36. The choice part of it is... after the Freedom of Access to Clinics Act
  37. of 1993 passes the Congress and the Big Cheeze signs it into law, the
  38. pro-choice people will be able to get federal injunctions against
  39. Operation Rescue types, but since `crisis pregnancy counseling
  40. centers' aren't clinics and don't qualify under the FACA as it is
  41. currently written, WE WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!!!  [Insert maniacal
  42. laughter here.]
