  42. Tell that to the pediatricians and surgeons who now consider it unethical
  43. to operate on a viable fetus in the womb without anestetizing it.

  45. If nothing else, there is the sheer mechanics of the situation: unless the 
  46. fetus is anesthetized, it will very actively struggle.

  48. This is just the latest example of our fractured view on fetuses: a 
  49. wanted unborn child is treated like a normal patient, while an unwanted
  50. one is compared to a ping-pong ball.
