  17. This brings up another question if I can get it out before Alf posts
  18. a "cease and desist" message on this thread.  I understand the
  19. difference between impeachment and removal from office and the
  20. responsibilities of the House and the Senate in the process but what
  21. I'm not sure of is... Was Nixon impeached?  My almanac says that the
  22. House Judiciary Committee passed three articles of impeachment and
  23. sent them to the full House.  It goes on to say that the House
  24. voted 412-3 to accept the committee report including the impeachment
  25. articles.  Then he resigned.  Did the 412-3 vote mean they impeached
  26. him and the next step would have been the Senate trial or would an
  27. actual Impeachment Bill have to be passed first?  In Andrew Johnson's
  28. case there was no confusion since he was actually impeached but the
  29. Senate voted against removal.
