- I'm not either but I thought the state of Franklin was established because
- of Civil War differences. It was a part of the state which was VERY
- pro-Union and when Tennessee seceded from the Union, the state of Franklin
- seceded from the state of Tennessee. This would make its existance in the
- 1860's. I have absolutely nothing to back this up -- just what I heard
- when I used to live in East Tennessee. Would be interested to know what
- your final answer ends up being!
