  23. In looking for records for an Indiana ancestor in the Family History
  24. Card Catalog (FHCC) on microfiche at my local LDS Family History Center,
  25. I came across a microfilm of records from a WPA project of the 1930s
  26. that was an every-name index to several county histories/atlases for
  27. each of several Indiana counties.  The roll I looked at contained
  28. several counties (Hamilton Co. is the only one I remember, but there
  29. were several others).  For each county there was one name index and for
  30. each name there was a reference to one or more county histories/atlases
  31. and a page number.  There were on the order of 6-10 references for each
  32. county.  These were primarily the late-1800s, early 1900s county
  33. histories we're all familiar with.  I found several new references for
  34. my ancestor that eventually led me back another generation to a Rev. War
  35. veteran in Lehigh Co., PA.

  37. In the FHCC, look under "Indiana," then the "County" of interest, then
  38. "Biography Indexes."  The title of the work I looked at was "Hamilton
  39. Co., Index of Names of Persons and Firms."  The particular roll
  40. containing Hamilton Co. was Roll No. 1597773, Item 7.  Items 1-6 and 8-?
  41. were other Indiana counties.
