- I took a quick look at the register to the Andrew Johnson Papers
- on microfilm. It shows that one letter from a "S.S. Henkle" to
- Andrew Johnson was microfilmed; it was dated 28 Oct. 1866; was 8
- pages long and includes a note "with docket."
-
- There's an entry in the register for "J. Stuart Hanckel" which
- says "see Spartanburg SC Citizens".
-
- There's an entry for John W. Hinkle, letter to Andrew Johnson,
- dated 31 July 1866, 2 pages long.
-
- There's an entry for Samuel Hinkle saying "see Lincoln County
- Tenn".
-
- These papers have been microfilmed by the Library of Congress and
- your local library should be able to get you copies very easily.
- The Johnson papers are also being published in book form, with a
- complete name index. If you haven't see a copy of those books,
- you should search a set out.
-
- I'm sorry, but I'm completely snowed under right now and just
- don't have time to look at these records.
