- I have run into a deadend looking for my ancesotors--JOHN MURRAY
- and his wife MARY HOFFSTETTER. One reference mentions them as
- natives of Morgan County, Pennsylvania. There is no Morgan County,
- Pennsylvania and never has been. However, there are three small
- towns by the name of Morgan in Western Pennsylvania.
-
- A John Murray and Peggy Houghstater were married in Jefferson County,
- Ohio in the early 1800's. Is there anyone out there who has researched
- the name HOFFSTETTER? I have seen it spelled as Hufstetter, Hoffstater,
- Hofstatter, Houghstater, Huffstater, etc.
-
- My John Murray and Mary (Polly?) Huffstetter has at least two sons,
- Benjamin Franklin Murray and Thomas Jefferson Murray. Thomas J. Murray
- named one of his sons Winfield Scott Murray.
