- I am looking for any information related to Plowden or Long Isle or the
- adventurers associated with it.
-
- In 1632 Sir Edward [Edmund] Plowden and other English adventurers proposed
- to settle a colony or plantation on Plowden or Long Isle. This isle was
- reported to be located between 39 and 40 degrees north latitude, about 60
- leagues northwards of James City [Virginia] without [outside] the Bay of
- Chesapeake, and about six leagues from the Main[land] near De La Warre
- [Delaware] Bay.
-
- Apparently this adventure was unsuccessful. Does anyone know the location and
- current name of Plowden isle? Does anyone know anything of Sir Edward, Sir
- John Lawrence, or others associated with this adventure?
-
- Thanks.
