  12. A cousin and I recently published a book on Roswell W. Derby
  13. of Cherry Valley, New York.  In total, we probably donated
  14. 25 - 30 copies to various libraries.  I would suggest that you
  15. include small libraries where the family members now live or
  16. where there were clusters of them in past generations.  In
  17. addition, the large genealogy collections such as Salt Lake City,
  18. Utah and Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

  20. We donated a book to the New England Genealogical Society as
  21. Roswell's ancestors came from Massachusetts and Vermont.  I even
  22. donated one to the library in my hometown of 2400 people in
  23. northwestern Ohio.  A month later I went to that library to do
  24. some research only to find the book missing.  The librarian informed
  25. me that someone had checked it out even though it was a reference
  26. book.  Other cousins donated books to their local libraries.

  28. In my home town library I found a book on the Batdorf Family.  I was
  29. glancing through it and found information on Johann Adam Walborn of
  30. the Tulpehocken in Berks County, PA.  Johann Adam is an ancestor of
  31. mine, but I had not connected him to the Batdorf family and certainly
  32. never expected to find information on him in that library.  Further
  33. reading provided a lot of additional information for my own research.
