- A cousin and I recently published a book on Roswell W. Derby
- of Cherry Valley, New York. In total, we probably donated
- 25 - 30 copies to various libraries. I would suggest that you
- include small libraries where the family members now live or
- where there were clusters of them in past generations. In
- addition, the large genealogy collections such as Salt Lake City,
- Utah and Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
-
- We donated a book to the New England Genealogical Society as
- Roswell's ancestors came from Massachusetts and Vermont. I even
- donated one to the library in my hometown of 2400 people in
- northwestern Ohio. A month later I went to that library to do
- some research only to find the book missing. The librarian informed
- me that someone had checked it out even though it was a reference
- book. Other cousins donated books to their local libraries.

- In my home town library I found a book on the Batdorf Family. I was
- glancing through it and found information on Johann Adam Walborn of
- the Tulpehocken in Berks County, PA. Johann Adam is an ancestor of
- mine, but I had not connected him to the Batdorf family and certainly
- never expected to find information on him in that library. Further
- reading provided a lot of additional information for my own research.
