- I raised this issue a few days ago because of various reports and
- rumors I'd heard. I subsequently phoned the probate court in one Ohio
- county and asked them what their policy was. I told them that I
- normally send a letter that describes the document I'm seeking, asks
- the cost of copying and mailing the document if they have it, and that
- I always include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for their reply.
- They told me that is exactly the way they prefer to handle such
- requests, and that they would be happy to provide any documents they
- have in file. If this is any indication, I'd say maybe the problem
- isn't as serious as I first thought.
