  29. I raised this issue a few days ago because of various reports and
  30. rumors I'd heard.  I subsequently phoned the probate court in one Ohio
  31. county and asked them what their policy was.  I told them that I
  32. normally send a letter that describes the document I'm seeking, asks
  33. the cost of copying and mailing the document if they have it, and that
  34. I always include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for their reply.
  35. They told me that is exactly the way they prefer to handle such
  36. requests, and that they would be happy to provide any documents they
  37. have in file.  If this is any indication, I'd say maybe the problem
  38. isn't as serious as I first thought.
